Pasi. The Isherman looks great 👍 Did you mix the sand color?

The sand color is Vallejo Model Color 884 (Stone Grey / RAL 7030 / FS36357). Not sure how accurate it is, but to my eye it seemed to be closest match of what I had available. There's also some weathering, which made the color slightly lighter and closer to grey.

Pasi, thanks for the paint information.

I am about to mix some water with thinner to deal with these Revell decals

Here's my starter picture, it will take a few alterations to portray this old dog's last stand!

I just found this formula for a home made acrylic retarder.

5:1 mix of water (5) to Glycerin (1)

Has anyone tried it?

Michael -

Just 'retired' from Boeing after 28yrs and can now finally get back into modeling again after too many years of just every once in a great while. I've been Spring/Summer cleaning and organizing my old and too many kits stash and came up with a Tamiya M48 (actually 2) to build as a 'Magach'. I'd like to try and do a Magach 2, then a Magach 3 with the 105mm. If not too late and you can put up with an 'old guy' returning to the fold, I'd like to join up with your 'Anniversary of Six Day War' Campaign.

Beautifully done and sharp, crisp details. I've been staring at it for a while expecting to see IDF troops deploying out of it.

And done! I have just finished my M51 IDF Sherman, painted to represent a tank of the 14th Armoured Brigade in the Sinai during the battle of Um-Katef, 6 Day War. I am still in the process of painting up some extra stowage to festoon the turret and rear (as all these tanks seem to have been covered in extra equipment).

I had a lot of fun with this one, and I am really please with how it turned out. So tempted to build one of the PzIVs that were used as well...But going to finish off the stowage for this Sherman first. More photos to follow when I get a good sunny day for taking photos.

Very nice work, David!

Some more progress on the Dragon M3A1 halftrack this weekend:

The cab is just sitting on the chassis to see how it looks. So far, so good!

Excellent start Michael, looking great and really like the details. I've managed to get a start on my 'Magach' and did the lower hull and suspension. Not all that much, but it sure felt good to get back into it again. Good to know I can actually take time and enjoy it. Hopefully that will result in a decent build.

Mike,

Very nice, but your pictures are quite small. Can you make them bigger?

Here's where I'm at on the halftrack after this weekend.

Since this was the unit commander's vehicle, I installed the radio. Don't know if that's correct, but I like the way it looks. I'm still trying to decide if I should make the vertical black strips on the hood wider to match the others. I'm guessing they were applied in rather a hurried fashion, so perhaps leaving them different is more correct.

Michael -

I concur and think it looks fine as you have it. Cmdr vehicle with radio is very likely and logical. Coming along great.
My Baseball coaching season is now over and I can really focus on relaxing and modeling. I'm geared to some cleaning out of my stash so I'm doing the older Tamiya M48A3 kit to convert as a Magach 2 rather than get Dragon's Magach.

Managed to finish up lower hull; filling in old Tamiya 'motorize' holes and removed 2 return rollers to config as the Magach 2.

I used Tamiya liquid cement to soften surfaces on turret and hull, and textured using an old brush to try and give more of a 'cast' feel. Also used a Voyager set for metal 90mm and mantle.

Awaiting a Legend M48A2C mod set for upper hull and engine deck. We'll see how this comes out.

Wow! Everyones builds are coming along really well.

Managed to get the wing attached to the fuselage of my Mirage. Needed a little trimming to persuade it to fit. Some big gaps on the bottom joins to fill but the top is ok. Nearly ended up in the bin but this far along and with a month to go, I'll persist with it.

Work on the Syrian Panzer was cruising along (so fast, in fact, I forgot to take pictures of road wheels and bogies and bare hulls...my bad)...until I screeched to a halt with the bane of buying old kits off E-Bay...a missing part! Not just any missing part, no, it was the front of the mantel, somewhat important...

Fortunately I has some scrap styrene tubing and sheets, so I scratched one up...

Added some bolt heads and no one's the wiser...now to finishing details, not too much, as these vehicles were pretty well stripped down of tools and gear. But they did leave the turret skirts...

And so, ready for priming...

Nice save, Clayton!

And I'm calling this one done: the Dragon 1/35 M3A1 halftrack done as Col. Motta Gur's command vehicle for the capture of the Old City of Jerusalem on 7 June, 1967.

A nice kit, if not always great-fitting. But I'm glad I did it and happy with how it turned out!

More pics in the gallery, of course.
