I honestly don't know too much about Australian and New Zealander activities in WWII, so this looks like a great way to learn some new things! I'll be there!

How about a poppy flower and the word ANZAC underneath? But Franck's suggestion also looks nice!

Too bad that I've lost all my photos I made in 2012 when I visited the WW 1 battlefields in Flanders and at the Somme due to a computer crash in 2014 ....

Oh, and my build would be a Lockheed Ventura Mk. II of No. 464 Sqn RAAF, Methwold 1943. Time frame suits me, count me in ....

Franck's ribbon looks good to me but I want to see what D comes up with. Torsten's idea of a poppy and the word ANZAC also has merit as the poppy is the symbol here and in Aus for our ANZAC celebrations.

Clayton initially the western desert was our area of operations but we were in the pacific and Europe as well. We have an awesome resource in the NZETC (New Zealand electronic text center) follow this link and you'll have access to all our WW2 histories. The NZETC also contains history of the great was as well.

Our soldiers earned a reputation as "thieving Kiwi's" if it wasn't nailed down .... well even if it was nailed down and could be "perked" we perked it. In Italy the 19th armoured regiment "perked" a bogged down armoured recovery vehicle an M32 I think as the regiment didn't have one. When the original American owners came looking for it it was nowhere to be found and the Kiwi's had no idea of where it had gone.

Take a look at this 28 Maori battalion bren gun carrier it has an M2 50 cal (I think) and a 30 cal browning on it. Not standard armament but have been added by the fitters after no doubt being "liberated" from an American unit.

Honestly, who in the heck is going to tell a band of Maori they can't do something? Surely no one can be that dim.

There are a few options that are uniquely Kiwi that could be part of a ribbon.
A Kiwi (preferably black or white)
A Silver fern
A Mere (short flat club.)
The Bledisloe cup.

I agree during the fighting on Crete at Galatas the Maori battalion performed an un-ordered bayonet charge performing a haka before they went in the other units also fixed bayonets and followed them. While the haka was being performed they could hear the Germans leaving their positions in all they pushed them back 3000 meters. The Germans were literally terrified of them.

See? The Germans weren't dim.

If I can enter the campain with a figure i have already started i am in, the figure is only partially assembled with some minor modification and i also have a bicycle that will be part of the sketch also built but only half way,i think i am at 15-20% maximum of the Work done, most likely even less, will be a sketch on the Battle of Kokoda Track in 54mm (1/32)with a Beneito figure and a Scale link Pushbike, will be my first campain and knowing my pace slower than a dead turtle i hope to get the job done, also because here at Airlie Beach in North Qeensland we have 3 months between January and March where the damp heat makes it impossible to work at my workbench in my garage without aircon...


Ps: the figure is 2 years is sitting on my workbench to take dust and deserves to be finished....

I understand a crate of XXXX Gold or the dreaded VB in a pinch will also suffice.

Hahahahah....Personally i would prefer a Slab of Great Northern ok also in stubbies!... ....but then the problem of heat becomes secondary but still would be difficult to model....

Vicious the figure sounds perfect and I'd like to see you get it finished, welcome aboard!

in fact i am in some way related to the Anzac History becose my uncle fought against ANZAC's in North Africa with the Italian Royal Army and the same uncle help them as a partisan in Italy

I knew I had posted some photos of my 2012 trip to Flanders and Northern France some years ago. Not only AUS and NZ memorials and cemetries but from all sides. Have a look if you like.

Damian, my grandfather (born 1894) also fought in France. As he loved horses he joined the cavallry, I think it was an ulan (lancier) regiment he was in. He survived not only WW1 but also WW2, where he was at the Eastern Front (again with horses) and released from russian captivity shortly after the war. He died in 1971 when I was just 7 years old. So I have not many memories of him.

Hi Torsten. I'm looking forward to your Hudson build! I enjoyed following the last one! My grandfather was also born in 1894, on March 27, and died in 1975 when I was 8. I remember him well as we spent most holidays on the farm when I was a child.

Torsten great pics my friend I appreciate your sharing them. I have always been keenly aware of the loss of life from both world wars and from a New Zealand perspective we had a very small population at the time around 1 million people and the war touched every household pretty much. All that promising youth just gone all that potential it's simply staggering.
