Hmm, me too! I've had to put the strike eagle to one side for a little while.

Gentlemen! ( Always give you lot the benefit of the doubt!) I'm in with Academy's 1/48 F-14A "Bombcat" it looks to be an interesting kit I've decided that the 1/32 Strike Eagle will have to wait as it's not in my usual zone of building (predominately WW2) and I'll have to master a few extra techniques not in my current repertoire to make this kit so I'll start out smaller with the Tomcat.

Hi all!
Against my better judgment I'm in with this blast from the past. Fujimi's 1/48 F-15 (it's an A), with a Dreammodel cockpit set, and Aerobonus USAF fighter pilot and ejection seat, and some Microscale decals.
I intend this to be a stand model done in the Air superiority blue scheme. I felt that with a pilot in the cockpit, and having all the paints still on my bench from the ETO campaign pilot, the urge to paint it is calling. So, not wanting to get ahead of myself and do more than 25%, I'm in! More to follow soon.

Nice work on everything I see right now....
Just a FYI.... I had...HAD to buy a second Kinetic kit to replace the one I just started... all the sprue trees were very warped. I had this kit in storage for years... in the Desert heat plastic has a tendency to warp...(Who Knew!!!... ..) I have some pic of the muscle I had to employ to make two halves meet... but at this stage, It was better to restart with a newer kit.
Pics to follow once they are uploaded...

Failed build in another campaign means I can join this with Eduard's 1/48 "Striking Eagles" It's re-packaged Academy F-15E with Eduard resin, decals and PE. It has three US marking options (F-15Es from 2002 to 2012), and one for Israeli F-15D. I'm building the Israeli plane.

Progress has been made with the Tomcat I've started a build log so you can track my gaffs and triumphs lol. I've detailed why I did what I did in my build log suffice it to say that I thought progressing this way would be easier in the long run.
Here are some pics to show the progress so far.

@Thomas
The cockpit is looking great.
That's too bad about the heat damaging the sprues.
@Franck
Looking forward to see that Falcon.
My F-16 still needs my help to get the air intake finished..

TEENs!!
I can almost smell the acrylic primer!!!
Here is an update of the 'newer' F-16I under construction.
I also have pics of the 'older' build with the deformities in the plastic but I'll just upload the 'newer' build pics.
Note: still coming across large injector pin locations on this kit... I hope 'Kinetic' get that resolved. Also, with this 'newer' build, there seems to be sizeable gaps between sub-assemblies... You can see this in the pics with the white putty as a filler between the parts. Before I hit the paint-shop I will have to use some filler to smooth out these gaps. Other then that, all is going good, I have all the aftermarket parts primed and ready for final paint.
I will be cleaning up the gaps and adding in the small parts then be heading off to paint.... I will be using the IDF Vallejo paint set for this kit...
Thanks
TPC

Hi all,
How embarrassing! Jumped in and forgot to enlist! Good thing I remedied that.
I too got a little done on my F-15. Test fit looks pretty good. Granted the intakes and the front end will take a bit of care, but overall I like this Fujimi kit. In the day I couldn't afford it, but now not an issue as the price on it has remained the same, and I got a real job! From the looks of the test fit, it seems that this go will be less of a headache than the P-38.

Hay john41492...
I see the P-38 box in the background....
Who is the manufacture?
I have an Academy P-38 on my conveyer belt for my next build. You mentioned a headache... (just inquiring)

Hey Thomas,
It is indeed the Academy P-38. I say headaches because for me it has been. When I build there are so many enthusiasm points available. This one has taken all of them and some for another build too!
Seriously, it's a better kit than the Monogram, and I haven't built either the Minicraft or Hasegawa. I do have a couple of Hasegawa's in the bullpen, so I'll know more later. The panel lines are very well done. What has been killing me is the fit. In some areas near perfect, in others not even close. Getting the alignment is key, so I recommend using Paul Budzik's (paulbudzik.com)P-38 jig. It really helped with an aligned bird.
I opted to do the recon version, so results may vary. It'll look ok when done, but be ready to put a bit more work into it than what a normal build would be, it is a P-38. For me it's about twice as long. I'm just wrapping up the main paint job now. If you're interested, I'm building it as part of the ETO campaign and you can follow along starting on page 8. You may find some hints or at least some things not to do! Hope this doesn't spook you, we could all use another P-38!

"Nothing like the smell of 'Primer' in the morning..(Well, at least in the paint booth)...."
I have the majority of the build done and primed.... I'll be getting to the gear doors, wheels and the canopy this weekend.

Really nice stuff here!
As for me. Well... I've struggled hard over the last few weeks to get into the Academy 1/32 F/A-18. An excellent kit that I really wanted to build, especially as there's no Hornet in this campaign yet. But I just couldn't get traction, for some reason. So, with apologies to Tobar (who's doing an great job, BTW!), here's my entry:
My daughter, who lives in Israel, wants me to do the Negev squadron bird, so that's where I'm probably going:
I've started by painting the front of the canopy clear yellow mixed with some smoke. It didn't come out quite the same as the kit supplied canopy, but at least the front half is tinted and the aft half isn't, as on the real thing:
I read one build review where the guy actually cut the two canopies in half and glued them back together in this configuration. I wasn't feeling up to that. Hi ho!

Made a start on my Revell F-14
Lots of ejector pin marks that need filling in, the tyres all have massive divots in them
I am replacing the kit engine fan, with the ones I salvaged from my previous F-14 model, and painted them Tamiya metallic grey. The revell ones are just discs with some lines on them, the salvaged ones actually look like fans. Don't know how much will be visible, but I am happier with it, and they are less than a millimetre smaller in diameter so it's a good fit.

I'm back on track with the strike eagle this week. It's sat untouched for too long
