it is two parts, you mix equal parts of each together.
it works like clay, add water to thin.
no shrinkage, cures rock-hard.

There are also different types of Milliput - various colours and the superfine white is well worth having in your arsenal.

I'm definitely feeling the tug to get started! The Eduard '190 is chugging along nicely, so I am perilously close to starting work on the Weihe. I just know it always ends in tears when I get distracted - I end up not finishing anything!

I know that once I start the Weihe it's bound to get messy, because I'll want to add more by way of an interior (there will be open holes inviting anyone to peer inside).

So - apologies for the late start... but it will need a proper run at the build to see it through.

This decal is as old as the kit, I guess 1970s or early 80s at the latest. I'm sure i can save it with Microscale brush on decal film.

Actually I was shopping for an interwar period passange plane for Pax and Packets campaign and couldn't decide between F.190 and Latécoère 28-3 by same manufacturer so bought both and decided to join also this group build. This will be my first resin aircraft, but not my first resin kit. I've built one ship and few scifi models earlier.

This will be a great campaign!

The weather here has turned foul, cold dark and raining, so I won't be doing any painting for a while. so I started the next kit, Welsh models L188 SL68 -

the parts are on two sheets. the kit includes metal props and wheels, in addition to the vacuform props, a nice decal, which I wont be using, and a really nice set of 1:144 scale drawings.

I'll start with the props, which will free up the metal ones for the JLM kit.

I am watching your efforts and still building my B-52.

I can't upload photo's anymore in the gallery as it tells me I have exhausted my 10MB ration.

Quite a bummer. I searched to become a subscriber (quite hard to find how to do that by the way) remembering that this gave more space in the gallery. However, 3.49 dollar a month for only 500MB won't cut it for very long considering that I can't use photobucket anymore. So this does not seem to be the right solution right now.

I have to think at what comes next I don't want a second photobucket issue.

also stuck the wing parts together. this is the more usual method of 1/144 scale wing construction. the dry fit is good, but Milliput will still be called in.


Anybody else working on a kit?

Ive got the Welsh models Electra fuselage together.
set beside the JLM model, there are some distinct differences,
especially around the nose and cockpit glass. the wing tips are different as are the vertical tail profiles.

Oh, the Welsh models engines are much bulkier than the JLM, overscaled, id say, and not well profiled. I havent even added the fronts.


here it is next to a Hasegawa Orion (one of a pair of hanger queens)

the Hase engines are much closer to the JLM. I will have to modify the Welsh ones.

Great progress - and some quite radical differences between the kits.

I must admit some of old (OK - ancient!) "cottage industry" vacuform kits I built left a lot to be desired in terms of accuracy. But, in a way, that was/is part of the fun of the genre; because you had to scratch-build so much yourself anyway, it almost encouraged you to go the extra mile sorting out problems. And because the original surface detail was often quite basic (if there was any...), again, you weren't afraid of damaging anything that you couldn't repair or even improve upon.

I should have a bit of time at home over the next couple of days, so the plan is to finally get that in-box review of the Weihe done and start work on the beast.

It almost feels like cheating with the S.B.S. kit:



Had to replace two parts with brass wire, but otherwise out of the box so far and no fit issues at all. I know that fuselage seams will need filling and sanding, but shouldn't be an issue.

I continue my fight with the kit. This is fabulous kit itself with outstanding fitting of the parts however here are still few things that may make it even better. I decided to add few details to the cockpit interior and engine. It's still a work in progress so there are few more things to be done.

I replaced the rudder pedals provided in the kit as the flat PE fret and made it using a thin wire and PE straps. Control stick is made of a thin wire, nylon fishing line and a cooper wire. The original one was far too thick (FUBAR).



Here are the cockpit sides. The added wires and plumbing are made of wire and stretched plastic sprue, depending on their thickness.





And a few pusher rods added to the engine. Working on these pushers is a nightmare. I tell you - one time I will hold my breath a bit too long and there won't be any more updates.

Here are my few steps forward. First improved parts from previous update. This time the cables are much more straight.



I'm working on the propeller. The endings were broken or placed too deep in the casting block. I don't know but I'm working on extending them a bit. I also filled two small air bubbles which were visible just under the surface - I was affraid that when pulishing they may come up so it was easier to drill holes, fill and sand down at the current step.



Engine pusher rods almost finished. I still have to replace few of them which are not straight enough.



And here's one of the exhausts - glued in place and drilled.



"Cowling" ring with removed original exhausts. I will scratchbuild these to make them "open".

Macenas, beautiful work on the interior and engine.

I finally glued the fuselage together now to add some putty to make the seam go away then work on the cockpit and finally attach the wing.
