annnnddddd I'm in!
Not sure what with, but it's not like I dont have a bunch to choose from.
Stuka tankbuster, DML's 1/35 Ah6 wip for more than 15yrs, Su33, Su-27.. or all those Hinds and yummy Linden Hill decals, or the SF3D Fledermaus, a 20 yr shelf queen.
Michael, with no Model Geek motion for a pure sci fi hangar queen campaign, are Sci fi fliers still acceptable?

It's official, I'm in. Think I only have 22 candidates this year, compared with 23 last year. First thought is Monogram's F8F-1 Bearcat. This one has been close to finished for a couple of years. It's been on the shelf of doom for quite a while because I thought I'd lost the windscreen.
There's a little more more to do than I thought, some sanding on the seams top and bottom, clean up the bombs, paint the missiles, mask and install the canopy. Then paint GSB.
I also ended up with a decal set. Score!
Might be a few weeks before I get to work on it.

I started it, I loved it, I got distracted and now it sits on some shelve....
But not for long anymore

Happy New Year Everyone!
I'd like to welcome any and all to the Hangar Queen 8 campaign. A special thanks to Michael for letting me lead this one!
It's been said that when one has skin in game they do better. Having recently moved to Malaysia from the US, and giving away all my completed builds, I found that I still had 7 works in progress. So my intention is to complete them, as the wife frowns on unfinished work, and space is at a premium!
So, in no particular order they are all 1/48 (my scale of choice):
-Hasegawa Ki-61
-Monogram F-16 prototype
-Academy F-16A Thunderbird
-Monogram P-47D-25-RE
-Tamiya P-47D-26-RA
-Fujimi F-15A
-Mauve P-40N
It'll be some time before I begin, as they are currently on a ship somewhere in the Pacific, but hopefully some progress will happen soon.
Let's have fun!
John

Good luck John. Hope you get 1 or 2 done.
Outside of Penang, my Malaysian geography stinks. So what part are you in?

So after posting, I realized that I do have a couple here! I brought the F-15 in my luggage (from Terrible Teens), and the love to hate F-16 by Academy. So which to finish??
Hey Mark,
I'm in Melaka or Malacca (British spelling), on the West Peninsula, west coast, about 3.5 hour drive North of Singapore, and 1.5 South of KL. Located on the Straights of Melaka! A very historical place, and home to the sweetest and sexiest teacher in the world!

Well John, It best, I've only flown over that area on the Singapore to Penang route. Great modelers in that part of the world. They take it real seriously.

Actually, now that I think about it, we are on the 8th Queen now.
Is this not discrimination
Next time we MUST have another name such as Hangar King, or Hangar Princess, or Hangar Duke

Ok, a pretty decent day at the bench.
Re-re-restarting on Hasegawa's ancient AH-1S. It has been a shelf queen for over 15 yrs.
where I started today
And where I managed to get by the end of the afternoon
Who knows, I might even finish this one THIS month!
Mike

I'll throw my hat in the ring. It will probably DML's 1/200 B-2/F-117 kit.
Initial pictires:
As you can see, the landing gear and wells have been painted white, although they could probably use another coat. Black has been painted in the cockpit and on the radar panels underneath. I was experimenting with masking. It's been like this since the last time I was in a Hangar Queen campaign.

Hi Everyone!
Almost a 12th of the way through and we’ve got great start going. Gary, your B-2 looks good. Mike I like the Cobra, a good thing in small package. Regarding Sci-fi Queens, why not? The spirit of this build is to get them done regardless of here and now or a galaxy far far away.
Mark, I always wanted to do the Monogram Bearcat, just never did. Yours looks pretty good so far, look forward to seeing it done.
Here’s my first entrant, Academy’s 1/48 F-16C. In the box it looks almost identical to Hasegawa’s, but that is where it ends. For me, Academy kits seem to look great but fit is spotty, and in my box were some beautiful, but worthless decals. I’m thinking templates for the paint job, though Thunderbirds are gonna make it a real hard row to hoe.
More to follow and a good showing so far!

My Mig-21 in 1/144 scale:
Canopy and missiles still need to be done.

Off the ‘shelf of shame’ ( ok, shelves, really..) and into the display case. Still struggling w Hasegawa decals, but the Ammo panel line wash is great.
After all this time I am still searching for the right combination of Tamiya flat paint, MOdel Master Gloss coat, Hasegawa decals, Micro sol and set, and semi-gloss to get it 'right'.. too many variables, too little patience, too little bacnh time, and too much time between bench sessions. I am making the same old mistakes over and over... Oh well..
Pretty happy with the canopy masking too
Still a dead sexy looking helo
Now off to joust with the gallery dragon...

Next up off the shelf of shame, the Italeri 1/72 Hind E, probably a shelf queen since I picked them up cheap, maybe as far back as 2000..
Finding a set of the US Coast Guard decals from an ancient Russian action movie really brought this one back to life. That and finishing the Cobra, my SECOND favorite helicopter..
Old Italeri kit means of course the fit is terrible and LOADS of filler are needed. The fit of the cockpit components, engine exhausts, and the troop compartment doors are rotten.

Hi all!
Jelger, I really thought you finished that last year! By all means put the canopy and missiles on it, and then load some pics in the gallery. I also saw what you did on the P-47, and may I say it's a real looker so far!
Mike, I agree, it's a dead sexy helo! I'm hopeful you can get some shots loaded into the gallery.
Gary, it's great to see you can load photos into the gallery, however... I thought B-2's are black and have landing gear! You're close, keep at it!
So, I was able to order some decals for both F-16's and hopefully they will make it from China, till then I'm thinking it may be time to pick some low hanging fruit from the hangar. Either the P-40 or the P-47. Since the house isn't quite ready for us to move into, I'll be picking it out later in the week.
Till then, have fun!!
John

I have a Su-7 1:48, just worked on the intake and the front wheel bay. Was about to start the cockpit when I lost my mojo.
Also Kinetic F-16 D 1:72 , cockpit and wheelbay were done and that's it.
