Hello,

first i've airbrushed a coat of alclad gloss black primer, then a coat of alclad polished aluminium and finally i airbrush lightly a coat of alclad burnt iron.

As I limp back to base, my worst fear is realized. I've got a tail dragger! Despite 157 grams of weight!!



Reevaluation, found that I didn't include the rear turret, or the waist area in my initial weight calculation. Based on the weight of the protective cloth and a lighter... Me thinks another 20 grams. I'll know for sure tomorrow.

After some sleep, I was able to pound out some more 1 gram weights. Adding 10 at a time, it took 30 grams. That plus the 157, and add to it the 3 ml superglue, and 4 ml of epoxy, it comes to 196 grams. So let's just say 200 grams (7.0 ounces). It's a lot of weight, but the structural nature and strong landing gear take it with no problem!



Now, gear doors, gun barrels, and pitot tubes. Then off to the blue cloth for pictures!

I'm calling this one done!





Overall the kit is a straight up build. The wings need a bit of work, as does the tail section. Though, nothing a modeler with a couple of kits under their belt can't handle. The biggest challenge is the size! This is a big one, so all the seam filling takes longer. With patience and the Eduard mask set it's a pretty easy build. Just takes a little longer!

A shot to give some scale, as you can see it's big!




And Bob, in answer as to where does it go? Well, on the Big Bird Table of course! Until I get a display case!

Almost makes me look like I know what I'm doing.
Clear coat, white on the rudder and I'm off to the decaling.

Mark, she looks nice and I have been afraid to try the Alclad since I only use acrylics.

Bob, this is my second try. The first one went pretty good too. I think a big pat of the secret is to use their gloss black primer. I shot the primer with my Badger 105 with a 0.5mm needle, it ran through the paint quickly, had to refill the bowl halfway through. Used my Neo CN, 0.35mm needle for the aluminum much lager bowl but it still needed a refill halfway through. In both cases, I shot it straight out of the bottle, no thinning.

I've used both acrylics and enamels on the inside of this one.

Soooo close. Almost all of the fiddly bits installed. New decals printed, almost ready to apply.

My Blenheim MK.IV is finished.

Franck, nice job on your Blenheim. What paint did you use?

Mark, the next time I build an a/c that needs NMF I will ship my a/c to you to paint. I love the NMF what you've done.

Don't look too closely, I managed to strip off some of the Al topcoat when I masked to paint the rudder. And a seam line list it's aluminum too. I've got some AM decals for the Star and dot national insignia, but the rest of the original decal sheet is toast. SO I scanned them into MS Paint and tried the fix them and print them out on clear decal sheet. I sure hope this works.

I know you can finish it!!! The Alclad II went down nice, and I like how you did it. I do it similar, though I use Mr Surfacer 1500 black, and get really good results at a cheaper cost. I really like the stuff, for NMF it's the best way to go if your on a budget. Almost any gloss black will work. I've seen modelers use Rust-o-lum gloss black and get great results. The trick is to lay the black down, let it dry thoroughly, and then light sprays of Alclad, but not too much!

i've used Tamiya Desert yellow (XF59) and Earth (XF52) for the upper surface and Vallejo UK Azure blue (71.108).

Now it's time for a two weeks break, i'm leaving my appartment.

Anyone else having issues in uploading pics to the kitmaker gallery?

No problems lately, but the gallery is finicky. If your image is over a certain size, say 3Mb, it will act as if the image loaded, but not actually do anything. You've got to go under that limit. I use my photo editor, Imgur, to resize the image to 1024 by 8xx and it usually goes in just fine.

I use paint and resize mine to 825.
