My is perfectly fine , no flaws at all . I grad my kit from Hannants last year in December so I lucked out on that one . How is your canopy ?
Terri
Hi Terri
I've read that some people have had trouble with the Revell canopy and, indeed, I did too - but not because of any moulding problems...
I bought my kit from Amazon and it arrived with no clear sprues, so they replaced it straight away. Great... except the replacement kit didn't have any clear sprues either (and no, in case you're wondering, it wasn't the same example - it arrived so quickly, I hadn't even had a chance to send the first one back!).
So, my Mustang's clear parts eventually came direct from Revell's after-sales service and they're fine. But, after two kits in a row with the same issue, I couldn't help but wonder if there's a batch of Revell Mustang's out there with no clear parts - and with a company the size of Revell, that could mean a lot of kits that were sent all over the world.
It's a good argument for buying the kit from your LHS if possible so you can check all the parts are there before heading home.
All the best
Rowan

Glad that it all work out for you Rowan and you got your canopies . It does make you wonder on how many kits made it out of the factory missing the clear parts . Hopefully when ever they release the late version they won't have this same issue .

Gary , I don't mind buying aftermarket stuff . Some kits I went really over board with it . But half of my stash is for out of box builds . Need a break from the big projects every now and then .

Very nice work. The cockpit so far has great feel to it and the weathering is not overdone. Now I wonder is the Tamiya Mustang realy that much better ?

Thanks guys for the kind comments .
I'm rather pleased on how it turned out . There wasn't a lot of paint used for the weathering . I lightly ran the brush on the surface with alum to pick out the corners . Rest is done with chalks . There is four coats of dull coat with weathering in between each coat .
Jacob , I would say yes . The Tamiya kit is worth it . It has a higher level of detail hence the high price . But I guess this is up too the individual for what their taste are . I will get another Revell Mustang . So far it's a great kit and one really doesn't need to add much other then seatbelts .

I started the wells on Tuesday and had to fix a boo-boo . Miss reading the instructions I ended up gluing top of the PE part to the top part of the wing . You are only to glue at the side walls . So removing the parts and getting the some what looking like they should ( they got damaged) . To give it more support I glued down some brass strips which in the end gave the ceiling better support and fit . Get all the well ribs in place and ready for further detailing with some plumbing and wiring .
Will not be added the other PE parts . Just don't have a stead hand for this anymore and with damage done to removal of the wells I know these will not overly fit very well .
And these are the flaps which I will be using , also have a set for the Tamiya kit . These are awesome !

Terri,
The weathering on the various cockpit sub assemblies is just 1st rate. I'm truly impressed, and at my age I don't impress all that easily any longer.
As for the wheel wells, you made a great save. There is enough PE in them to fools one eye. The added plumbing will only make it look all that much busier.

Every wheel well set and flap sets that I have used by Eduard always need more plastic removed and they still don't fit ( sand through the wing on the zero trying to get the wells to fit and they still don't )
Fear not - it's not just you, I've had the same problem with the Brassin stuff as well, which is incredibly disappointing. There have been a few parts - and even an entire engine - that I've had to bin.

I'll have to say that while I have used the PE that has been included in kits I have purchased, the Eduard that I bought separately has not been fun to work with. I just don't bother with it anymore.

Matt , Shell ...
Something I will not be buying so much of anymore is PE sets and the same with resin sets . With newer release getting better and better they just don't add that much more to the build other then a few cuss words on parts that don't fit .

A little was done in front of the bench over the weekend . I spent more time online and going through refs on the wheel wells and everything contradicts . So I'm going to say myself a huge amount of frustration and not worry to much about it .

All that PE in the Wheel Well really is looking quite good. Sure seams like the effort was more then worth it.

Hi Terri - beautiful job on EVERYTHING so far - keep at it !
Seems I am a bit of a lurker these days - while my modeling mojo has not left me I am focusing my attention these days on my 1/1 scale motorcycles and may be joining Joel over on Automodeler with a 1/12 motorcycle build once winter sets in .
Thanks for sharing - watching your build keeps the " things with wings " fire burning a bit - even if it doesn't have red circles! 😂 😂
Cheers - Mr. Redcircles

Richard,
Like I've been saying: can't wait for your to join me on AutoModeler for your bike build. With your skill level, it surely will be a build for the record books.

Hi Terri
Great save on the etched parts - and the result looks fantastic! That's definitely a wheel well you can be proud of.

Thank you guys for the positive comments . We will see if my efforts have paid off once it is all painted up and a bit of weathering done . It is starting to take shape , but not much progress . I Been drilling out 1mm hex rod for the fittings and also 0.6mm hex rod . Weekend is coming up so I should have more progress by then .
Richard , will follow your two wheeled thing when you start
