Really not much progress , but I did press on and have the fuselage close up . Tail planes are in place as well as the rudder . Only the top part of the main wings was glued in place . For the plumbing to be done i need to get to this stage . The rudder petals will go towards the Tamiya kit ( good idea Rowan )

Over all fit isn't that bad but there are gaps which will need to addressed later on . I do need to rethink on the plumbing . The detail I wanted to add has hit a road block do to not having a 0.3mm micro drill bit . Can't find any here in the city so will have to come by mail .














It's a long weekend so I will be able to get lots of bench time in

Getting fine drill bits is a pain. The finest that I know I can buy locally is only 1mm.

Great work Terri - it's coming on beautifully!

I was struck by your and Gary's comment about your difficulty in buying fine drill bits. O.3mm is the smallest normally available in the UK, but they are really easy to get hold of here (usually in cheap multi-bit sets). Almost every LHS I know stocks them - and often craft shops and even DIY shops. We're used to feeling like the proverbial poor relations this side of The Pond, so it's surprising to realise we actually have things easier in this at least.

No issue with drill bits here in the U.S. either as we have a few national craft/hobby chains like Michaels and Hobby Lobby. They suck for modelers in terms of kits, but they at least have a good tool selection since they carry jewelry-making gear.

Looking great Terri! I can bring some drill bits by the next IPMS meeting for you to borrow if you want, I get sets of 0.1 to 1.0 mm drill bits in 0.1 mm increments on Amazon for about $8 shipped, can take a few weeks but can't go wrong for that price!

At this moment I feel like ...well just plain stupid . When at the hobbyshop yesterday I went to the service counter to order drill bits and low and behold they sell them individual ! I have been going to shop for many many years and never even knew this . Never seen them on the racks . They keep them behind the counter So I'm back in business and don't have to wait !!!

Thanks for the offer Colin , I don't order off of Amazon but in the future if you ever need . Hobby Whole sales on the south side of the city 63 ave and argily road has them . They keep them behind the train service counter .

While I've made the move to race and classic cars these days, I still follow several members here on Aeroscale, and you're one of them.

The overall pit and behind the seat looks fantastic. And those PE wheel wells look in scale and have plenty of detail to be seen and admired.

Thanks Joel I have made some progress , just a few more things to do and will have some progress to post . I must say though that scratch building in 32 scale is not the same as 48 scale ! Had to remake a few parts over and over and over ...

I'm almost finished with the right side of the wheel bay . Few more lines and other details then I can move on to the left side of the well .

Thanks Joel for dropping by It was a productive weekend in front of the bench . Was able to finished off the detailing and can now start the other side . I do need to get myself a better punch set in the near future . The pulls are a little over scale but I used the smallest one I had . I must say that it has been a learning curve working in this scale , but enjoyable !

As for a punch set, I bought mine from UMM-USA. a little expensive, but 100% top quality that has stood the test of time by a long shot.

Now that the festival season is over , well for me it is and things go back to be normal with bench time involved . Was able to get a fair bit done and not much left and this part will be done . Then I can start the painting and weathering before the other wing half is fixed in place . The thicker oil/coolant line isn't glued in place . I just but it in place for the photo. A few more lines need be added before it's fixed in place for good .

Outstanding detailing. Once painted and weathered, one would be hard pressed to tell the difference in side by side photographs of your wells and the real deal.

Detailing in the wells are done . Now I can move on to the painting stage and get the rest of the wing parts prep and ready to go .
