Hello Again, Paul...
Don't give up on that MONOGRAM B-17G- You can always tuck the Landing Gear up inside their wells, and display it in "flying mode", suspended from a ceiling or in some other fashion...

Paul: Great kit and a great start, too. The interior looks fantastic.
I will be in with one more P-51. I found a Revell P-51B in 1/72 scale deep in my stash and I bought a nice decal sheet with a version of the "Impatient Virgin".
I used the small PE parts set of Eduard and added some more detail to the cockpit.
Parts are now painted and ready for assembly. Probably, not much will be visible after closing the cockpit.

Hi All, PeeJay74 (Paul), Wanted you to know that "Man O War" actually lives! Was just outside Oxnard CA on the 28th of Sept when I heard "purring butter". Looked up and this is what I saw at about 1400 feet. Luckily I had the telephoto on and caught this:
Awesome sight. Passed over later in the day around Santa Monica too.

Wow, that is not the Revell P-51B I remember. Mine had NO cockpit detail at all, the pilot was simply glued to a peg in the fuselage and trapped inside.

Mark: The newer Revell kit is from 1998. It is nicely detailed for a moderate price. But, I cannot say if it is very accurate.
Chaz: Nice kick off! The cockpit looks nicely detailed and painted.
As I am building a P-51 B, I have some problems with the wheel wells. Were they the same as in the P-51 D version? All literature I found is about the D-version.

Didn't want to do too much detail inside but still had to do some aftermarket products... (NOW you can see much of it!!
)
Not much left...some minor assemblies like engines, gear, guns and clear parts...

Tobar: Nice progress. At least You know all the details are there!
Just a quick update about my Mustang.
Color and decals are on and some decent shades were applied, too.
Next will be the landing gear.
Keep on building

Didn't find the P-38 really inspiring, so bought this instead:
Can't wait to start this, never built B-17 before.
And will be building Skyway Chariot, mainly because it doesn't have cheesy nose art and I like the green trim around nose cone. The plane was shot down over Berlin in 1945 by Me 262. Six of the crew were captured and three killed. All killed were gunners at rear/mid section of the plane. Got the info from here:
https://b17flyingfortress.de/en/b17/43-37521-skyway-chariot. Not sure if they were flying with single waist gunner, or is fate of one crewman unknown.

I've wrapped up my P-47 Razorback only to realize that I forgot to share any of my build progress pics here while I was still working.
Here's the first installment.
The cockpit completed and weathered to show some dirt and grime.
Fuselage together.
Wings and engine on.
I decided to have the flaps down.
Base coat of olive drab on.
Painted the white stripes rather than using the decals, I think they turned out good.
I'll get the rest of pics into Imgur and post them up later.

I think it's time for me to get going on this one. The kit I'm planning to do is the one I had originally picked for the Bombers 2 campaign:
I made a very slight start on it:
Just the fuselage halves put together and a bit of paint. I'm only going to use a minimal amount of aftermarket: some Quickboost gun barrels, Eduard seat belts, and (something I think is essential and that I didn't have before) Eduard masks.
I've got a couple of references:
After I took that picture, I noticed I'd left out the original Detail & Scale on the B-17 that I also have. Since then I've picked up a copy of Roger Freeman's Mighty Eighth as well.
So, I think I'm set for my winter project. Now to see if I can stick with it this time!

Whew!.... This is my entry for "Mighty 8th" Campaign.
Before my Uncle passed in 2003, I was only able to speak to him once and take notes of what he remembered from his time in the 8th AF. One specific detail my Uncle related to me was he had 'My Tail End' written and a drawing of a Big Butt 'Pin-Up' drawn on the tail. "Because it was his butt on the line"
The WWW has many sites that have related information during that time period. Here is one that help in my search:
https://www.americanairmuseum.com/person/194648Markings:
Tail number and National insignia are decals, all others are home made decals, hand painted or custom stencils I make for this kit.
Paint is LifeColor and Vallejo. Kit is Revell and Master Model gun barrels. Weathering is mix of AK, Oils, Mig Ammo.
B-17: "Ka-Lang"
What brought the plane down was "#2 engine hit" and "Low fuel".
I depicted that by a 'Feathered Propeller' and Oil slick. I didn't want to guess what the damage looked like so I left it alone.
His 'Tail End'
Big Butt Pin-Up
