Hi Stephen,

looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Thanks for the info on Micro sol/set. I'm intending to try it once my bottle of Humbrol Decalfix runs out.

Yep, the instructions are there, but they're very tiny.

I find it works well, provided you follow the instructions. There's a youtube clip by Humbrol about it too.

One thing I do differently though, is to not soak the decals in decalfix but to use warm~hot water.

But, it is essential to apply decalfix to the surface of the model before the decal, and also to the decal after application.

Use a dry brush or paper towel to soak up any excess

I'll give it another try, I'm pretty sure I used it wrong.
What's the consistency of it supposed to be like? My bottles about a year or two old and it's not as runny as water, more like a liquid poly. I'm wondering if mine has gone off.

Got a couple of finishing touches to do today and she's done.

And she's finished.
The Hobbyboss 1/72 Hawker Hurricane MkIIC, finished in the markings of RAF 242 Squadron based in Malta.

Thanks for hosting a great campaign Michael and great to see everyone's builds.

Have posted pictures in the campaign gallery.

That's a lovely Hurricane Stephen, especially in the small scale.

Thanks Neil.
It's a kit with a few challenges despite being billed as a quick build. I think it captures the rugged looks of the Hurricane though.
The canopy is certainly better than Revells which doesn't look quite right.
I'm thinking of getting the Arma kit at some point.

Congratulations Stephen on a very fine finish! Great work on your Hurricane!

Yer, Decalfix should be somewhere between water and liquid poly in viscosity, but that shouldn't mean its "off" per se... you could try thinning with a little with water to bring it back to normal...?

Thanks Russell. It turned out alright in the end despite the problems (all of my own making!).

I wasn't sure if some of it had evaporated off as it wasn't what I was expecting.

Beautiful work Russel, Stephen and other members of this campaign that have managed to complete their builds. Unfortunately I have sadly had to unenlist and withdraw from this fine group as I have insufficient stock of certain supplies, let alone time to finish my build. With stores that carry what I need being classed as unessential and closed due to the current world situation my only option might be to try to mix up paint colours from what stock I do have and that would take more time. Perhaps if I can find a workaround I might finish my Hurricane for a Hangar Queen campaign at some point.

Good luck to all of you and stay safe,

Nice work to all! This one's about ready to wrap up and I'm afraid the Eduard Tempest never got done. But I will finish it one day!

Speaking of which, one day left for anyone out there who's close.

Hi Jan

Thank you for your kind words.

sorry to hear of your low stock problem. These are indeed difficult times and the most important thing is to stay safe/healthy!

Hope to see you finish your build in Hangar Queen 10?

She turned out really well in the end Stephen

It's been great seeing our two Hurri's built alongside each other

Yep, sounds like maybe some of the fluid evaporated off

Thank you Michael, and thank you for running a great campaign.

That's too bad about the Tempest, hope to see you finish her off over in Hangar Queen 10!

Michael,

Tough luck on the Tempest. There's still a place for it over in the Hangar Queen Campaign. See you there!

Thanks again for a wonderful campaign and congrats to all of us that finished!!

Well, time to put this one to bed. Congrats to all who finished and nice work by everyone! Ribbons have been awarded, so if you didn't get one and think you should have, let me know.

Thanks for a great campaign and we'll see you all around the site!
