Thanks for the extension. Then I avoided having to rush this build.

A very old kit, but I am very satisfied with the end result. Difficult to get the weathering right with very little recessed detail and only a bit raised detail. In the end I think it looks realistic.

Looking forward to see more builds for this campaign.

I could end up with an F-106 before long. Two troublesome seams to fix, touch of paint in the cockpit, mount the canopy, do so masking and head for the paint shack.

Just got back from a break up to the Yukon, nice to get away from the coast and the rain, feeling like I can push through this build now, thanks for the extension!
Missing a few in progress pics but heres where the Draken is at, masked the numbers to avoid using the big hasegawa decals, worked pretty well, bit of cleanup left to do but overall pretty happy with them, just have to spray the black around the intakes and I think the painting is done.

belly is mostly blocked out, working from a bunch of random reference showing a big difference in some of the panels

hoping with the bad weather I can get a good chunk of this done this weekend, though we brought a border collie pup home with us so that may take over my life and destroy my socks before the deadline, fingers crossed

Thanks Jose, Im kind of getting bogged down fighting the decals, theyre super thick and sadly I couldnt find any aftermarket replacements. Im currently building up around them with Aqua-gloss then hope to sand them down a bit to get rid of the severe step left from the film. I melted them with solvaset and microsol as well as I could, had to pull out the tamiya extra thin on one of the tail markings to really melt it down (nerve wracking last ditch technique) I should be able to get it weathered up in time for the end of the campaign if I can stick with it

Jose and Eric, really nice jobs! Peter and Mark, looking good!

I've thoroughly enjoyed this build. The kit is from the early 80's, but Monogram was on game. Sure, there are places that needed a little help, such as the undersides of the intakes, and the front fuselage parts to play nice. Though, not as much work as one would think.

So, got it all together and cleaned up and replaced the few lost panel lines. Then I went ahead and painted it up with my version of ADC grey. I think I got it. I also made a mask for the front end and did it in gloss black. Granted only the radardome should be gloss, though for this one I'm letting it ride!

With three layers of clear (my future mix) I flipped her over and finished off the weapons bay, and the detail here is really nice.



I've spent three days doing the decals, which are quite nice. These are from Revell for this kit, and one can see the quality they put into them. So that and the little bits and she's gonna be done! More to follow soon!!

Lap Man, I've always liked that plane, and you did a wonderful job with it. Mark, nice choice, and lovely finish!

I too am calling this one done. I really had a lot of fun building this. The kit is typical Monogram from the 80's, great detail, pretty good fit. This is a re-release from Revell, and the kits decals performed very well, and snuggled down nicely with Mr. Softener. I used very little Mr. Surfacer 500 on this kit, mainly on the intakes. I did have to scratch out the gear door actuator for one of the main gears, due to it getting lost somewhere. Aside from that an overall good kit, one that I can recommend!



The weapons bay is very nicely done, the missiles are so so, but it's hard to tell once it's all put together. I've read where some have problems with this, I encountered no issues.



I was a bit surprised at just how big this plane really is, it's now occupying as much space as my B-25!





A fun build and another great campaign! I've really enjoyed this one. Thanks all!

ok, pretty close. I couldnt handle the decal silvering and carrier film thickness of the tail numbers so I sanded it down and re-did the paint. One of the things I like about the MRP Lacquers is the ability to blend back into existing paint seamlessly.

MR surfacer 1500 primer on

and heres my 99% I think, the kit Pitot was terrible so a brass replacment is on its long winded way to me but Im calling it done beyond that.



So after the build, Id say it was a fun kit, not great, not bad, and as much as I like the subject it just didn't really grab me for the last half.maybe its the chaos of life these days, the fact that I had a very stressful and enjoyable hockey playoff run to follow (go canucks, good push) I may revisit this one in a few months but for now Im good. Ill take some better pics for the gallery, good work everyone!

Well Michael, I consider that high praise for John's model. It deserves it. Kinda of a participation ribbon for mine.

@Eric - Very good, great job on your Draken!

Everyone who finishes gets the ribbon, Mark. Which means not me. That damn Nesher keeps kicking my butt. Oh well, some great stuff here, from ALL of you!
