Down to the weathering stage. Not going over the top as it was an anniversary scheme and would have been kept reasonable clean.

That's sweet looking above and below. I hope to finish the markings on my phantom tonight then I'll have to do the loadout. I think (hope) I have decals for the missiles. I think I have to paint the yellow noses on the bombs.

Thanks Phil. I didnt have any decals for my aims or ammrams. I had to raid the spares. Look forward to seeing your build Phil.
This is a bit more work done before I head off for my real job.

I took these last night when the decals were still wet. I am very pleased with how the decals turned out. They are from a kitsworld decals set. They are very thin, but still robust. I broke one of the VMFA decals - it was my fault, and when I put it on the plane I thought the seam was sticking up. Checking again this morning everything laid down and I can't tell that any of them are decals.

On with the armaments!

Nice work Phil. What loadout you planning on adding.
Phantoms always look good in USMC markings.

Right now I'm going with fuel tanks on the wings, 2 zuni pods and a sidewinder on the inner pods, and 6 mk 82s on the centerline MER.

Peter and Phil, two great looking Phantoms.
The loadout looks impressive with some subtle weathering on the German bird.
Marines and Phantoms seem to go together!

cheers

Jim that's a fair choice to choose from.
Well mine is now complete. Only my 2nd wing build for quite a few years. I think making auto for the last 2 years has helped improve areas that needed addressed, like a clean finish and filling. You cant get away with shoddy filling on aircraft or cars. Tanks and military you can use weathering to cover up mistakes. I still build quick, but more carefully.
Anyway guys here are the pictures of 37+09 Jabo G 35. Hope you like it.

So, here is my phinished phantom. (Trying to think of other words I can spell with ph rather than f....).

Well, I still have to figure out how to mount it for display..., but for purposes of this campaign, it is finished.

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand looking at it I'm pretty pleased with how it came out. On the other, there are a few inaccuracies (part kit, part me). I think I could have executed it better (part kit, part me). I *think* the big upside though is it has motivated me to move up to 1/48 and do another one.

Is there a gallery I should load these pics into?

Phil, that's a great job and nicely finished. I agree about the scale though, I just found 1/72 to fiddly which like you, promted me to switch to 1/48 for the Mud Movers. Now I've see yours finished, I had better get on with mine now I just finished the Snow White and Sci-fi campaigns. Good job though and well done.

Excellent work, everyone! Phil, the campaign gallery is here.

I think I'm going to concentrate on the new Z-M F-4E for this campaign. IDF/AF, of course!

I can't wait to see the Z-M model!

That link seems to be for the kitmaker gallery in general. I'm fine uploading there, but I was wondering if there is one specific for this campaign. I think that's what I've seen on armorama, but this is my first aeroscale campaign so unsure....

ITALERI F-4S Phantom II 1/72

First build post of an old Italeri kit, which is my contribution to this campaign. Not an easy start. First I had to fill two massive holes on the inside of the fuselage and detail entire cocpit. Didnt go to far because it's an old kit and with canopy closed much detail won't be seen through. This kit has enormous amount of pin marks and many times in the wrong spaces. Here is the progress.

Looking good, Primoz. You're a braver man than I.

I'm making a start on the Z-M F-4E. I've actually written and submitted an in-box review and will post a link once it's up (assuming the powers that be feel it's worth putting up!)

Anyway, as I've mentioned, I'll be using Wolfpack seats since I have an aversion to no seat belts and there aren't any in the kit. Therefore, some modification is necessary to the cockpit floor:

The kit comes with some of the parts from earlier releases, including the Navy floor with no hole for a control stick for the GIB. All those bumps and ridges are for placement of the kit seats which are, of course, hollow underneath. The resin seats, also of course, aren't hollow. So the bumps and ridges have to go. Luckily, the floor is a separate part, so it was no problem with a flat blade.

Hello all.

Been on KM for a bit but the last few years mostly been just lurking until I noticed this 60th Anny GB. Having been a Phantom Phan Phorever I would love to join in! I have in the stash a number of F-4's but would like to participate with the 1/48 classic ESCI/Scalecraft F-4E, 1981 boxing. Now, I got this as a bagged kit but that shouldn't matter. I have a Hi-Decal sheet on order and plenty of extraneous Academy & Hasegawa bits to spiffy it up. I would also have to figure out (again) how to put up photos! LOL

Michael, is it worth someone in the know, transferring this build campaign over to the new site so we can just carry on there, taking into account the finish date for the Phantom campaign ?

I plan to do that, but I need some time to sit down and set things up. Perhaps this weekend. But I'll give everyone plenty of heads up.

That's good to know Michael, thanks for keeping on top of it all.

I'm now approaching the stage I have dreaded most with my Jolly Rogers Phantom, the painting .... Fingers crossed I don't mess it up. I know it's a walk in the park for all the aircraft stalwarts, you always get such nice even finishes..... Whereas when I'm doing the armoured vehicles, there is always a bit of wriggle room to hide mistakes with copious amounts of mud pigments lol.....
