Correct answer, Mr Fire Storm!
The fastest jet-powered flying boat in the world, the Beriev M-10 / BE-10 "Mallow".
Unfortunately, I haven't found any model of it.

Hi all!
I'm finally back with a question! So let's return to WW2! Do I hear someone saying Noooo! Anyway, I'm the boss on this one, so let's go!
Can you tell me what that thing in the middle of the propeller hub is? (look at red arrow)
You can also identify the plane but that doesn't count, it's too easy! :-)

Hi Andy!
You got it right! I thought it was a cannon muzzle until I looked in my refs while building Academy's I-16!
ICM released a kit with the starter car (see below) in 1/72 only... doh!
After having build a "Rata" in Spanish Civil War markings I will try to get this one! Looks great with the big Russian letters!
It's your turn Andy!

My first thought aswell, but i knew the question wouldn't be that easy.
ICM released a kit with the starter car (see below) in 1/72 only... doh!
Pity, would be nice in 1/48.
Thanks Jean-Luc.
My question is, what was the first, four engined (propeller) plane?
thanks Andy

Hi Andy!
No, don't worry, I don't have an answer!
I just came to say the AS-1 and I-153 kit is from Military Wheels and not ICM! My mistake!

Was the first four-engined aircraft the Sikorsky Le Grand?

Hi there
OK Andy... this one might be a bit unfair, but I read such a wonderful quote while I was away, that I just can't resist it!
What WW2 aircraft was a British test pilot describing when he reputably wrote: "This aircraft is difficult to get into. It should be made impossible."?

A quick google search found the answer: XF10F-1, Grumman's first attempt at a swing wing fighter.

Hi Andy
That's interesting... the comment I read referred to the Blackburn Botha. I wonder if that was even the first time it was said... or maybe it was an apocryphal story.
Probably not a good question if it's so open to doubt, but a GREAT comment!
Over to you.

Hi again
A day's gone by... so I'm not sure whether Andy got the message that I was absolutely happy with his answer, so I'll ask another question.
It's one of my classic early aircraft horrors... well, you'd be disappointed if I didn't dredge this stuff up, wouldn't you! I've left the registration on to help.
What's this aircraft?:

Truly hideous, Rowan!
But what is it?!? I've heard about flying boats, but
flying canoes?
And the UN marking? Is that supposed to help!?! :-)
Provided that this is not Kofi Annan's private aircraft, I'm going to guess - without any idea of what the real answer might be - that this is another one of those world-famous(!), yet butt-ugly, Yugoslav flying boat trainers...
