Hi Damian and Steffen!
I like cheap things! Especially cheap model kits! :-)
My entry will be Hasegawa's 1/32 Bf 109 G4 "Hartmann"
I will make a diorama for this one. I already have Signifer's 1/32 Oil cart kit (see review here ) and Fine Molds 1/32 Hartmann figure (see below).
I will also try to scratchbuild a mechanic out of spare 1/32 figures I have. It will be a first for me and I think the bigger scale will be easier to work with. The photo frame you can see on the first picture will be the base for the project.

Hi Jean-Luc, AndyD
Can't wait to see another of your fine, fine models Jean-Luc. Interesting to note that both our planes have their ID numbers painted over the original stammkennseichen.
AndyD - Repeat after me... if there is a spinny thing at the front there is no tracky things underneath...
Here is the box and decals for my entry.

Hi all!
I started my Hartmann plane. Here are some pictures:
The cockpit is out of the box with the addition of Eduard pre-colored seatbelts and rudder pedals from another set.
Here's the current status of the kit. The fuselage halves have been glued in place and the wing sub-assembly is also done. I only needed filler on the cowling as the upper part of it was an insert and no seam should be visible in that area.
I also started Signifer's excellent Luftwaffe Oil Cart resin kit. A review of it can be found here. I spent 3 hours cleaning the parts, and only one hour to assemble the kit. The green resin parts are flexible! I think it will look great aside the finished plane. I still didn't choosed the color of it: grey or camouflaged?
Hmm... the sky is pretty empty on those hot summer days. I believe the Soviets are sleeping more than flying!

Hi all!
Here's another update:
I started to paint the model and also painted a base color for the Oil Cart. The Hasegawa Bf 109 G-4 kit is very simple and easy to build. Absolutely no filler was needed for the wing to the fuselage assembly. I first sprayed the underside (RLM 76) and will do the upperside tomorrow I think.
Still nothing much happening here! Where are the Red Stars!

Great looking 109 Jean Luc and that cockpit really is something else!
Preshading looks really good.I cant really tell from the pictures but what colour did you use for the preshade?,,it doesnt look like black on my screen.
It looks as though I'll be able to begin my build for our duel in the next couple of weeks and I 'll start a thread for us when I do.

Hey Jean-Luc
Fantastic work once again! The cockpit is awesome.
How do you go from not much done to that much done in such a short time???
As my G-4 is going to be in flight, I had to source a Grizlawski, which I have now managed to do from a Tamiya E-4. I have started painting him. Bad weather is still playing a part in my getting of the ground because I don't have an indoors area that I can spray in. My reconnaissance tells me that that the young russian femme fatale is in a similar level of preparation.
Will join you in the sky soon.
Cheers

Hi Nige!
I used Tamiya XF 50 Field Blue. I thought it would be a nice change over black. Don't worry about our "Duel". I have enough work to do on my Bf 109 G-4 diorama... and you are busy with your Spitfire!

Hi Marek!
I already knew this fantastic build. The guy is becoming a world star in the modelling world community. His work is fantastic! Way out of my league... maybe one day in another life I'll do something like that.

Hi Jan!
I think only the guy has the answer. But he can prepare hymself to receive tons of Awards and Gold medals for his work!

Hi Wiz!
I don't work in July and August, I'm an Art Teatcher and have summer hollidays in that time. I also use Tamiya paints wich dry almost instantanely (it's very hot in europe currently). And to be honest, the Hasegawa model is very user friendly! :-)

I'm just reading a book about the first months of the Barbarossa battle, focused on aviation of course. Before the start of the offensive, the german flew hundreds of reconnaissance flights while the Soviets flew almost none! The Russian pilots also received the order not to engage the enemy, because Stalin didn't wanted to give the Germans an excuse for starting the war. As if Hitler needed an excuse to start a war at that time!
The Russians therefore weren't prepared at all and lost a lot of planes in the first days of Barbarossa.

Hi all!
Here are some more pictures...
I painted the upperside RLM 74/75 splinter camouflage using Blu Tac and masking tape...
...then I painted the mottles on the side.
Above is the current status of the model. I have yet to "Future" it and add some weathering of course.
I think I will slow down on the plane to concentrate on the mechanic figure(s) I want to do myself. The next update will have to wait I'm afraid. This will hopefully give the Soviets the courage to show up! :-)

Hi all!
I began to work on the mechanic . He will have a nice conversation with Erich Hartmann in the diorama I plan to do. I used the old Rommel figure of Hasegawa's 1/32 Storch kit as base and started to "customise" it. The white "thing" on the plastic is a two components material which can be found in do-it-yourself stores. Once mixed, you can use it for 5 minutes before it starts to harden. I already have the arms wich I will probably have to change a little and will also have to find another head. I can't use Rommel as mechanic! :-)

Hi all!
Now he's got a head, let me introduce you Otto!
He will be Hartmann's mechanic in a small diorama I plan to do. Ok, he is still in a rough state but he will look good with the Oil Cart from Signifer.
I also sprayed a couple of coats of tinted Klir (Future) on the model so I can start to apply some decals. That's what I like the most in model building! I hope Hasegawa's decals will work finel...

Hi all!
Thanks David, it's a simple paintsheme but with some interesting markings as you can see on my next picture...
I placed some decals today but I still have to put the stencils on. I wanted to decal the model earlier today but I noticed I forgot the yellow Russian theatre markings!!! So I had to do them prior to decalling. I'll do the rest tomorrow...

This is looking fabulous Jean Luc!
Im interested in the tinted Klear technique. It seems to give a similar effect to the one I get when I spray on a very thin mix of the base colour to blend decals in.Could you explain it a bit more,or perhaps write a short article?
Great inspiration for my 109 for our duel!

Hi Jean-Luc
Nice build again. I am currently on holidays so no building is taking place, (I've been to Hendon and Duxford though, so I am counting that as research )
Cheers
