Greetings all;
Many of you already have this but I was asked in a PM if I knew anything about this movie. Try this for starts;
http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/flyboys.html
The nonprofit organization I am a board member to is the Lafayette Foundation. We were approached early on about this movie. Some purists will snicker at the event but many purists snickered at the "Blue Max" in 1966. For good entertaiment you will be satisfied that your money is well spent.

Thanks for posting! I'd seen the trailer, but the battle clip is great! You just know he's going to come up behind him at the end, but it keeps you on the edge of your seat.
I think the visuals are fantastic and it looks like it'll be great to see on the big screen.

Hi Stephen!
Thanks for the heads up! I didn't new this movie. First I will see it in the cinema and then I will buy the special edition double DVD with limited edition booklet and super bonus!
Both the trailer and the combat scene with the Gotha are great!

O...........M...........G!!!!!!!!
That was absolutely MAGNIFICENT!!!!
I would be more than willing to spout the eternally familiar phrase "...it's about bloody time!!"...but then I would be belabouring the obvious....
It's funny, even though I'm {apparently} a latecomer to the news of 'Flyboys', I just saw it advertised in the Smithsonian's Air & Space magazine and had planned to ask you fellas about it......couldn't be happier
And you say you were approached thru the Lafayette Foundation there Stephen?.....I don't suppose you could elaborate on that could you? I'd personally love to hear the details.
Also, gotta say. The POV scenes in the trailer showing the pilots view of flying over buildings and around trees is excellent....that's almost precisely how it looks, except of course for all the missing "G's"....any birdmen out there who can support me on this?.....?
Tread.
JackFlash:......You've got to be in 'Seventh Heaven' there pard'..... :-)

A definite must see in my book!
The movie info says it opens September 22 in the U.S.
Dang! now I have the urge to build a Layfayette Nieuport on top of everything else I'm doing.

Thanks for the headsup.
It's about time there was a WW1 air combat movie and this looks like a peach. I will be off to see this for sure.

Looks like a good movie, an offshoot of the blue max moved up modern movie standards. Now if we can redo the BoB like this, I will most definately get a big screen TV. Just think of all the air movies that could use this touch!! It boggles the mind!!

While the 1/48 scale "Flyboys Nieuport 17" has been an open topic Eduard has eluded to a "secret" kit on their website for some time. Here is the secret. Eduard's 1/72 scale "Flyboys Nieuport 17", note the key differences in this mold tend to eliminate the need for brail scale photoetch.

While several of the Nieuport 17 replicas for the movie were full sized, four were 80% ultralights. See the link and scroll to the bottom.

Midnight tonight I will be getting off work and walking into a movie theater. I'll report back. I wonder if they will let me park my Triplane in the parking lot?

Hi Stephen!
You are lucky! I will have to wait a couple of month before I have the chance to see it here in France! Once you've seen it, please don't tell me who's the winner at the end!

Took of work this afternoon just to see the skies full of biplanes.
I enjoyed this movie like no other since I saw the Blue Max on my honeymoon 40 years ago. Great action, and not a big romance story line to take away from the realities of when they moved from being gentlemen
to combat pilots.
You had to know that he was going to use anything to finnish of the Black Fokker!
Definately will buy the dvd to run when building models.
This time my bride decided to let me attend alone. Had the whole theater to myslef anf 4/5 other guys all in our WW I glory.
