Hi Stephen Lawson!
I read your article ‘Realism vs. Scale Realism ‘. And change radical my point of view, about my work. With comments like these:
‘…Eventually you will ask, are you building for yourself or are you building to compete with others?’…etc
Thanks!!!
I have an own case, and maybe is the interesting of these concern about my models Fokker E.IV and Fokker Dr.I scratch build.
And certainly write you because of "The Splinter in my Mind’s Eye" above my models are:
My models look like proportional to the whole piece but are not everything on the model in relative scale. Examples: the ribs of the Fokker Dr.I, and other visible components too.
At these moment, I try to find somebody to tell me about critical point of view because all modelers prefers a large scale for scratch it all ( > 1/72 ). And they don’t have a previous support for handle it. And of course I understand than nobody faults
I know what to make in my next project to do more accurate and better and the realization that I have limitations that need to be dealt with.
I realize that to build in real scale a 1/72 airplanes, will look too thin and delicate version like eduard’s kit stripdown. To compensate it, my airplanes are stronger and I like to create an illusion that makes the observer think that he sees what he ought to see on the full scale version. . . but in the other hand, I sacrificed the components in the real scale
And this is the point: most modelers only see the over-scale of the parts. And of course yours verdicts concern around it, and is difficult to change their points of view because it would sound like ‘I try to presume the work’.
And the big question is: these scratch models in 1/72 maybe are gems but have a value in the static models rules?
If you have some word about it perfect! I will appreciative it, but I just very happiest for share these to us.
Regards!!

The model with the pink towel around it gets my vote as the "Best Build." Where did you get all those neat photos of Ursula?

Greetings Adrian,
There is plenty of room for everyone to speak about their modeling techniques. My basic guide is for the average modeler looking to find their way. The art of model building can be based in reality or impressionism. We all have to keep open minds about methodology when it come to these issues.
In the end my express wish is for everyone to "Model On!"

Madson
Well you see in my youth I was a freelance photographer and I got hooked up with one of the Hollywood studios to do some still work on the sets of movies. It was on a James Bond movie set that I met Ursula. My preferance for older women and her's for young men simply facilitated our relations ship. It all culminated when in 1966. I was George Peppard'"s stunt double in the Movie "The Blue Max". Ursula and I were able to rekindle our friendship and when Mr. Peppard came down with a severe case of influenza I has asked to step in and finish the movie. Ursula had insisted that I do the "towel" scene wiith her instead of Mr. Pepeard and the rest is film history. We have remained close for many years.
Tongue planted firmly in cheek, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
