Coming now! A company that provides miniature / in-scale spoked wheels for the Early Aviation model enthusiast!

John Vojtech from UMM-USA is offering this new product line as well as access to the ScaleSpokes forum. Capitalizing on his long-time love of WWI aircraft, has found to accurately reproduce these wheels in the common hobby scales. These wheels are highly detailed and will play an important roll in enhancing the realism and artistic appeal of your models.

To increase your vision of enhancement and satisfaction with your build, SCALE SPOKES offers hand-made spoke wheels for aircraft in 1/72, 1/48, and 1/32 scales. Future plans include 1/144 wheels by special order. All these miniature works of art feature resin or aluminum hubs, aluminum rims, copper wire spokes, and rubber tires.

They provide accessory sets for these wheels and offer upgrades such as flattened resin tires, photo-etched stem valves, and manufacturer’s name decals for the tires. These beautiful wheels are finished products by themselves, but the modeler can still bring them even closer to reality with further artistic techniques such as chemical treatments.

They encourage fellow modelers to offer their techniques through the ScaleSpokes forum. The goal is to raise builds to a higher level of realism. UMM-USA is very proud to offer you these hand-made works of art. Start building with them and enjoy the elegance of this beautifully artistic hobby.

Wow! Just yesterday I was looking at PE spoked wheels and thought how they lack realism. Can't wait! Will Aeroscale have these on review?

I also wish these every success, as the wheels are quite lovely. 1/144 by special order??!!! They must have an electron microscope to build those.

I've also noticed the colour of the tyres - satin black. I know it could be an old topic, but where those really black? Or lighter shade of grey?

It depends on the amount of carbon black used by which manufacturer. German aircraft typically had less than the British.

They certainly seem willing.

Well now it seems the deal is real. We will get some of the new spoked wheels. Lets help them out and tell them what we think will be popular subjects. I mentioned the: Fokker Dr.I 1/48 and 1/32 Fokker D.VII 1/48 and 1/32 SE 5a 1/48 and 1/32 Nieuport 17-28 1/48 and 1/32. Now the Nieuport 28 has a very unique set of spokes. they are cris-crossed with one in the center. The next question they asked was, ". . .would people like 1:72? . . ." I responded it would depend on the cost of the wheels.
