Absolutely cool cockpit, Vance. Looking forward to see more

I am not using masks for the fuselage numbers for the first time. The masks are from the Kagero book, P-40, vol.1. An absolutely great book with very interesting colour schemes included as masks. Among them also a Turkish P-40. It will be interesting to see how it turns out in the end.

More to follow soon....

Hi all!

Many good and nice builds so far!

Vance, you seems to be quite alone in your "Val" and will need some fighter escort!

I will fly as your wingman and escort with TWO tamiya 1/48th A6M2 Zeros!

Why two?

Last Christmas I got a Tamiya 1/48th A6M2 Type 21 Zero as a gift from my wife, and I have wanted to start the build ever since.
But the decals in the kit was old, yellowed and crappy, hardly usuable anymore.
Then I came across a really good offer at HLJ, a box with five kits (A6M2 Type 21 Zero, "Rufe", A6M5 Type 52c Zero, J2M3 Raiden and Ki-84 Hayate) for only €30!

http://www.hlj.com/product/TAM89761

As I lacked the Rufe and needed new decals for my Raiden and Ki-84 as well, this was a good deal.
I also got five (yes 5!!!) Koruganes, that little Japanese Jeep, and this is a completley new kit that sells for €8 each!

Don´t miss this offer if you fancy Japanese fighters!
The aircraft kits are old, but still very, very good, the Korugane is a completley new kit, and at this price it´s a steal!

Ok, now we can start the build!

One of the "new" boxes, same boxart only a new label.

Even if the parts count is reasonable in one kit, there´s a LOT of parts for two aircrafts and a car!

Aircraft parts spread out after initial assembly and painting.

More coming soon!

Cheers!

Thanks for the comment, Joe. You can find the book HERE AT KAGERO, but maybe it will be cheaper at one of the stores on the other side of the Atlantic.

Looks really good, Stefan. You are a busy man at the workbench

awesome, I could definitely use some air cover with all these allied fighters around!

Looks like this campaign might get more allied planes in the air than ever did at the real Pearl Harbor attack.

Hi All,

Here are a couple of progress pictures for my Pearl Harbour Campaign entry. It's a Tamiya 1/48 A6M2 Zero. I have the cockpit assembled and painted and am ready to close up the fuselage in the next few days.

Good Luck,

Victor.

Nice to see some good work going on in this tread.

A small update on my P-40B. A really bad kit, but finally I have come to a result that is acceptable. The masking went very well and a I am quite satisfied with that. Next is the decals and some very light weathering. More to follow......

Next stage of the P-40B is now completed. Decals added and the final details painted. Next is the cockpit glazing and a very light weathering. Then this bird is ready to get airborne and defend the fleet.

Finished my Revell/Monogram 1/48 P-40B based at Pearl Harbour. I used the Kagero book "P-40, vol. I" as a reference and used the excellent masks included in the book for numbers on the fuselage and tail.

I cannot really say I am satisfied with this kit or my result. It has a really really bad fit at both wingroots that is difficult to fix properly. At least for me.

However, I tested some new techniques on this one. Fx. masks for numbers and a new masking technique for the main colours. Both turned out quite well, so that is good.

Despite the kit problems it has been a joy to participate in the campaign. I am looking forward to meet more of the participants in the skies over the Pearl.

My next kit is definitely going to be better than this one........

Good start, Joe. Looking forward to see more.

Very nice entry, Carl. This is the Hasegawa model?
You might have surprise on your side for the first wave, but watch your six for second wave. My P-40 will be out hunting for prey

Looks good, Joe. I think it is covered enough for some "real" camouflage colurs. Is this going to be a three times blue camouflage?

actually it will be the blue/gray over gray. early war colors. not sure how weathered it will get though.

OK, interesting. I think weathering should be limited as the aircrafts were not seeing real action yet and should be pretty well maintained.

Looking forward to see it with some colours on.

for all who read this thread.

for those who have joined first my apologies. i have not been as active as in years past. i work two jobs, grocery manager in a small store and real estate, i just havent had the time to devote to building nor to posting. this build has taken a life of its own it seems. when i first joined fsm the build was hosted by fsm member obiwan. to me this was perfect, it combined two things that i was very interested in. the second time i hosted the build. i tried to put some of the history into it. this is the fourth year for this build. this year i am proud to say the build is on four different forums. thankyou to all who have joined. thankyou to all who have finished. for those who read this and think they wont finish before the "deadline". the purpose of the build is for tribute. please finish. dont let it hit the unfinished/never to be finished pile.
