Hi Graeme

I've never heard the anecdote, but I wondered if it maybe applied to the Curtiss Seamew? I've read that Royal Navy crews called it the Sea Cow and preferred the old Vought Kingfisher.

Hi Guys, sorry AGAIN for the delay. I've been moving house.

Curtiss Seamew it is!

The reprot I read that was US Navy crews were so unhappy with it that more than one was "lost" overboard and re-replaced with the Kingfisher!

Back to you, Rowan.

Grubby.

Cheers Graeme

I hope all's going well with the move! Having had to do that myself recently, I know only too well what a nightmare it is!

I stumbled across an interesting pic this morning. It was new to me, so I wonder if anyone can identify the aircraft:

Hi again

No ideas yet? Well, here's the same aircraft with different engines:

Hint #1 - it's Eastern European...

Looks like a surgery between a DHC Heron's Body and a Shorts Sterling's Cockpit

sure has a stirling feel to it. But is more likely to be an ikarus 214.
Good to see this thread alive once more.

Nope. As with most of my quiz teasers there is an Irish connection.

The rose is deaf because it was planted directly under the flightpath at Dublin International ??

Hi JP

I'd say that must be 'Spitfire Paddy' - the Finucane Rose, named after Brendan 'Paddy' Finucane.

Ha! Am I that obvious?

YES I AM!

It is indeed Spitfire Paddy a rose for WC Brendan "Paddy" Finucane, native of Rathmines, only finally recognized by his homeland government in 2004. Can you tell I'm an Irish Independent reader, or as my father puts it That Unionist Rag?

Got a little bit political there. Anyways back to you Rowan.

Hi again

Well done, that's it. It's the Ki-45 prototype, so not quite the familiar shape of the service versions.

Over to you for the next question.
