I'm guessing a Corsair after it's home carrier, Formidable, was damaged?

The first part is correct, the second isn't.

All right, this question is indeed a hard nut to crack. Here's the story: http://www.armouredcarriers.com/-document

Unfortunately I couldn't find any info regarding the faith of the Mike Banyard's Seafire after 'Operation Iceberg'.

No …

… so here's a question to be going on with. What aircraft was flown from between its tail fins?

Not them. All had one fin and were flown from ahead of it.

That's another one with a single fin and the cockpit built into it. What we're looking for is a twin-finned aircraft with the cockpit between the fins. And 'tis French.

Well, if I could work out where the pilot actually sat in that thing …

I'll give you that one, but it means there's another one out there that might pop up some time.

You have control, over.

Wikipedia says the Blériot 125 but I don't know whether a design which never flew well enough to be given an airworthiness certificate would count.

I'm about to be away from the internet for a week, so even if someone gets the answer I won't know about it.
