Gee, that was a lucky fluke...I'd just been looking at Jaguars over on another site.
Okay, who was the artist responsible for the creation of P/O Prune, WAAF Winsome and a host of other characters in the RAF's monthly wartime publication Training Memorandum...otherwise known as 'TEE EMM'?
EDIT: Sorry, a bu**er of a question, but I happened to have one of my TEE EMMs on the desk in front of me!

Hmm...well, I don't seem to have got the hang of posting pictures, so I can't offer any 'mystery aircraft' and am wracking my brains to come up with some sort of question instead.
Okay, how's this?:
It's fairly widespread knowledge that Hollywood film stars like James Stewart, Tyrone Power, Clark Gable and a few others were fliers during WWII, but not so for some of their British counterparts. Two that I can think of immediately are Laurence Olivier (yes, Sir Larry) and post-war comic actor Jimmy Edwards. In what capacities did they serve, respectively?

Hi Tim
Laurence Olivier served as a pilot with the FAA, but apparently never saw action. Jimmy Edwards certainly did - he was a transport pilot and was famously shot down at Arnhem.
All the best

Hello Rowan! Yes, absolutely right. Olivier flew Blackburn Sharks and Westland Lysanders, towing targets, I believe. Edwards flew Dakotas and saw a considerable amount of action, as you say. Thank goodness he survived...and because he did and went on to star in a certain BBC radio comedy, I can hand over the reins to you by quoting its title: 'Take It From Here'.
Cheers!
Cheers!

My goodness Rowan, you've come up with a beauty there! About the best I can offer is that it looks mad enough to be either French or Russian. What it IS, though, I must confess to not having a clue. One thing though; it would seem to be wishful thinking on the part of its designer for those tiny propellers to have much effect while blanketed by that fat wing!
Got me stumped (and curious)!

I reckon it's the Kalinin K-7.
Crew of 19, apparently seven engines, but I can't tell where no 7 is!
My book says it had a wingspan greater than a B-52 at 53 metres and weighed 40 tonne.
Ah, it looks like the seventh engine was a pusher, on top of the rear of the wing, between a pair of tail booms.
On the props, the book says: "On its first flight, on 11th August 1933, the pilots reported that they were generally content with the way the huge aircraft handled, except for the instability and vibration, which was found to be caused by the small-diameter propellors and ungeared engines."
So there you go!
Grubby.

G'day Graeme'
I reckon you're right, and as the prize winner you get to scratchbuild one in 1/48 for the Big Beautiful Bombers Campaign.
BTW I still owe you a beer, when are you coming to collect ??
Cheers, D
