Hi all
well .. this will be the last pic for quite a while:
Even if the oils were not fully dry I had no joy in waiting any longer. So I airbrushed some Tamiya Buff on the wings, the spine and the elevators. then I used a thinned mix of the original blue colour and made some postshading. After some drying time I gave all the top surfaces a flat coat the sides got semi gloss and the lower surfaces "glossy semigloss".
Then I wanted to take some pix to show the progress and then desaster struck. When I wanted to do the top side pic - for whatever reason - the camera "jumped" of the tripod directly on the model ... it is a sturdy little beast and just has a small scratch in the left wing colour .. but the u/c broke off and splattered across my room .. sadly I still miss one piece so I cannot repair it at the moment .. (that was 2 hours ago) I started the repair work but I need that part/piece so I will have another look later today .. it must be somewhere.....
all the best
Steffen

Was für eine armselige Welt ... nicht eine einzige Beistandsbekundung oder wenigstens etwas Mitleid ...
Somehow it has to go on .. so I assembled the lhs leg (right in the pic) and most of the rhs gear leg. Sadly I did not find the piece, so I will have to model it around the copper wire. I did not bend it but soldered two pieces together as I think this will be a bit stronger. On the other side I just had to add the axle.
time to get out the Magic Sculp ...

That was very bad luck Steffen- but it looks like the repair will be very good- and probably much stronger than the original!

Hi Steffen,
I wish I would have been there to see that...
Good luck for the recovery action. It seems to be well on the way already.

Thanks Ben and Jean-Luc!
but where have you been yesterday when I needed the pad on the shoulder
Jean-Luc .. wish you have been there ... you were probably rofl,
but at least someone would know what happened ... of course it was all my fault!

Sorry to hear about the mishap , but like the guys say , you have it well under control and with the metal it will be stronger then the plastic parts .

Many thanks Howard and Terri!!
no idea if I can fix it to a nice finish .. but anyway I will finish it! Also I believe that even if the joints are stronger the whole thing is less stable ..you know: a good sword is hard and flexible. I guess that saved my model on impact ....
cheers
Steffen

Nice looking Corsair. Hopefully you can finish it

So here we go again
fixed the u/c and also finished weathering .. looks nice and beaten, though I think I went a bit over board with the zinc cromate ...
Now only to finish the tanks and some very small bits (e.g. position lights)
all the best

Excellent job Steffen. Despite the problems you had, it's turned out great in the end.

At first I thought that was moss on the wings. Is that the way paint on zinc chromate chips off? I know nothing about it simply a question as I've got a corsair in the stash myself. The dust on the wings looks good and I'd never know it had suffered heavy bombardment. Nice one.

Many thanks Mike, Terri and John-Paul!
I am happy I could save it from the scrap yard and I am also quite satisfied how it turned out.
J-P I am not sure if you are trying to anger me or what ....
as I wrote the "chips" should have been placed a bit less random but it is not that bad .. moss pffft
Bordelon and a few mates were sent to a field to hunt for "bed check charlie" .. he already has all victories on this machine so he was there quite a while. I just assumed that maintennace was not as clean as on their carrier and there were not so many ship mates that need to be occupied with cleaning things so they cannot get bad ideas ... IMO if you lay out PSP you pretty much have a desert (or a swamp) in a few weeks so every small wind will be sand blasting your equipment ... prove me wrong!
all the best

Never! perhaps just teasing. This build is far too fast to gather moss
