Ok made a start to this.
Cockpit started. Humbrol 78 as interior green. Who knows what it really was. This is close enough. At least it isn't yellow chromate.
Washed with Humbrol 32. Works pretty nice in this scale once all this is dry I'll paint the switches with a toothpick.
Also stuck the wings and nose together seems to all go together pretty well, I've never done an AccMin before, and have the IL-2 and avenger in the stash. If they are half as good as this tang I'll be very happy.
No wires for batteries. There is plenty of detail one could add, but for me this is OOB.

Hi Nick. I agree with you. I was refering to Nick Sinclair's "Old Crow". I see I made a mistake and forgot to write which Nick I was refering to.
Your Mustang is not so colourful yet, but I am sure it will be a cool build when finished. It surely looks good so far. Looking forward to see more.
Ok
Thank you
Cheers Nick

What a great kit! Maybe because I've been building vintage airfix recently but this is such good fit and detail. I actually feel OOB is totally fine for this.
Dirtied up the cockpit with some yellow and metal scratches. Buttoned her up with Tenax and a Touch n Flow (first time trying this and it works brilliantly). Check Hawkeye Hobbies or the Reading the Seams thread here on Aeroscale for how this works. Tape belts need beefing up I think. Wine foil would be better in this scale.
Some pics.
Grr look at that seam on the control stick!!!!
Almost ready for paint. This is way too quick!

Looks very good, JP. The seatbelts would be fine as they are, although they would bend and twist more in real life I think. They would not sit flush to the surface of the seat.
Anyway, looks good and seems like an enjoyable build.

Nice work so far everyone ! Man I really need to get on with my project ...... will have pic's up this weekend , she is ready for primer ...
Jaypee , I built both kits when they first came out in the 90's and they did just fall together . The fit was excellent and the detail was something else back in the day .

Yeah in 1/72 I tend to just paint them on and under the beer bottle transparencies you get with old kits that is enough. Not good enough for this scale.
It shouldn't be too hard to improve on this even though it is zipped up.
If folk can make ships in bottles then I can put on some strips of foil onto a seat.

Nice work Jaypee, Im surprised by the quality of the Accurate Miniatures model. Could you post a picture of the main wheel bay ? Dont worry about the seat belts, I fitted the canopy yeasterday and when closed, you see only a green and a black blure where the cockpit should be

Removed the seat and made some belts out of ....
Alka seltzer packet. Foil backed with paper. Perfect! But first I needed a hangover in order to use them. Several glasses of Talisker later..... mission accomplished.
With shaky hands managed to get something better than just masking tape.
@Naseby. I will. That's the next job.

Well I'm pressing on with this dog of a kit. The details are soft and the fit is very ordinary. I'm looking at gaps of 2-3mm wide in places once the fuselage is together when I dry-fit things. Anyway, I think I will learn a lot from manipulating and patching this kit to get it to paint stage, so here's the cockpits . . .
A little detail painting and touch-up and I'll have a go at closing up the fuselages in the next day or so. Then the fun really begins !!
Cheers, D

This is my entry for this campaign. It is Tamiya P-51B in 1/48 scale.
I applied Gunze surfacer 1200 primer.
I painted gunze olive drab for upper surfaces, underside is alclad2 aluminium.
And applied decals.
And finished.

That's great. really GREAT mustang Mr. Ayhan
But I don't like the exhaust stains very much & also, what are these black areas in the white spinner, they don't look like shadows
Cheers Nick

Nice work on Hunhunter. Esp like the alu underside, not medium grey as is often done. Are there black underwing recog stripes?
I did mine dark green uppers, rather than OD.
Love the finish.

Great looking Mustang, Ayhan. The finish is very nice. Although I also wonder about the black exhaust stains on the propeller like Nick.
Nice progress, Nick. Your Mustang is coming along nicely.
A little more progress on my Mustang. The ordnance is on and it is almost ready to go Communist hunting in Korea. Next is some more light weathering in the wheel wells and on the cockpit glazing.
More to follow

Hardly progress as such but more posting a photo to register that I've actually managed to make a start on my entry.
Cockpit is blocked out and ready to continue with detail painting.

Thanks for the comments, boys and girls
The decals are very colourful and I had no problems with them, although I have heard others had problems with the decals breaking up. One just has to love that shark mouth
Nick, please find the box art and some inspiration below:
