I was not criticising at all Nick. I wouldn't have removed them either. I am amazed when I hear how someone added stuff you won't ever see when the model is finished..

Todd C ,
Good to see you're making progress there. Project is coming along well. Keep us advised with your photos on how you're doing. This is the Accurate Miniatures kit, correct ? So how did it go together ? Take it easy..................Bruce

Very nice build Mark, I always thought that the blue on drab scheme of the 352nd Mustangs was one of the most unattractive in the whole of the 8th usaaf. Your build is far from that though and the pilot leaning on the sidewall is a great touch. A very different and welcome alternative to the natural metal look.
I will be posting pics soon on the progress of my 1/32 twin seat 'B' conversion.

Hi all..
Well apart from the exhausts that I totally forgot about this one is finished. It is the 1/32 Trumpeter P-51B in 'Sweet Clara' markings. I was going to do 'Ding Hao!' But I figured everyone else does that one. I used the Eduard Self-Adhesive colour PE set in the cockpit.
There are a number of hassles with the instructions including a total lack of colour information for various parts (rocket tubes, bombs), and contradictory ones (Inside of undercrriage doors, one says green, one says silver). Other than that fit is pretty good.
The exhaust stacks have been put on...

Hello! Well its time for me to start my first kit since I joined this site, so why not a campaign ? I signed in on the info page and will hopefully do everything right. I decided to go for the Tamiya "B" OOB to play it safe, since this is a tripple first time for me. First campaign, first Tamiya aircraft and first Mustang ever ! Im too lazy to get a newspaper, so figured I make a photo of the sprues with the last post (I hope Warreni wont minde - you did the trumpeter realy nice by the way!).

Very nice build, Warren. Nice finish and a good choice of colour scheme. That black and yellow checkered tail looks great with the NMF.
Welcome to the campaign and the site, Naseby. You will not regret it Looking forward to follow your build and may I complement you on a great banner on the screen in the background. It looks fantastic!

Thanks guys! I was not sure whether a P-51B could even get off the ground with the two bombs and rocket tubes, but they look cool together and I haven't loaded up a plane with things that go bang and whoosh for ages.. Last one was a F-105G WIld Weasel ages ago!
I can't see that banner here but it sure looks good Naseby.

@ Jesper, thanks to that banner of yours did I discover the What if Campaign in the first place. Im now looking forward to it, since I have an idea about an old Airfix B-25, but thats for later.
@ Warreni, were the rivets on your kit OK ? They look good from up here, but I hear that this is an issue with some Trumpeter kits.

Hi Naseby.
As I have said many times the rivets look fine under a coat of paint or two. I love it when people complain about some rivet detail then pre-shade and weather aircraft so their panel gaps look to be about 1 inch wide!
I have been working on aircraft for almost 30 years and unless you are right up close to a plane, or their is a colour or texture change of the skin, it is very difficult to see panel lines.
A little extra rivet detail doesn't worry me too much and the Trumpeter 1/32 P-51B is about 50 times better than the old Revell offering..
Cheers

I'm in with a 1:48th Tamiya P-51D.
Made a start on the cockpit this evening.
I have no idea what scheme it will end up painted in at the moment.
Photos to follow when the cockpits finished.

Oh, Oh!!! I've hit a block in the campaign.
I've been looking at my P-51 sitting on the bench in the same spot for the past three weeks. Nothing is getting done.
I can't tell if its because I'm catching a WWI bug or if hunting season is courseing through my veins. Perhaps, I should go out and shoot something and get that out of my system. Or maybe its the honey dew list. The cabinet she wants is nearly finished.
Hopefully, I'll feel like it tomorrow, being Sunday, and be able to post some progress.
There's a lot of excellent builds happening here.

mpatman : Very nice build
Todd , you made it back ! I thought you where a goner
Warren : very nicely done indeed , do agree with on the panel lines . It looks nice , but most folks lay it on just to much and it becomes over kill .
naseby : Great to have you in the GB
Hi Nigel ! I promise I will not start any bets to whether you finish in time or not Looking forward to seeing her ......

Nick
What a super job your doing. You have passed me by. You are primed, and my same model sits on the bench.
Your doing an excellent job, please keep it up. You may get an old guy to get off his butt.
Your doing such a good job, I'm already embarrased. Please continue.

Haleluyahhh! Today is Saturday.... I've cheated the devil of one more day.
My mistake, and I apologize.
Halloween is around the corner, and I suppose little monsters will come to my door. Good thing I bought extra.

A little progress on my P-51. Stores almost finished - next is the base coat of aluminium.
More to follow.
