Anyone heard anything from Roden, wonder what they will do this year.

Larsa Q

Here is a bit of fun on Roden's future offerings.

Jack
That´s old news, just new dates. I´ll hoped for some interesting. I heard that Roden didn´t show up at Nürberg.

Here is the first re-release of Eduard's Fokker D.VII (OAW) kit

Can you verify if Eduard ditched that awful speckled lozenge that this kit was originally *blessed* with at all?

According to their website, they are continuing to offer the same lozenge as before. He states in his monthly letter, that he wanted to try offering some aged lozenge that was not well received. So he did not make any changes. This is a quote from the website...

"There are no surprised this month for new kits. The Fokker D.VII (OAW) received a updated cut, a new boxart, and instructions. Otherwise, the contents are familiar. That goes for the lozenge decals which are printed without the aged look. This one of the innovations that caused such an uproar that we abandoned it. In my opinion, that was a mistake. We should’ve continued on, and took it to the end. Like Comrade Lenin said, in a counter-revolution, it is necessary to stand firm in the face of adversity. This likely applies to the counter-revolutionary modeler."

well if that was *the aged look* it left a lot to be desired, at least it should have been optional, thankfully I have enough Eagle strike and Microscale not to worry. I was just wondering as I fancied doing Lothars yellow and red DVII so wont need a great deal of upper loz anyway

I was hoping to do the WNW one this scheme but it seems I have a longer wait than anticipated to ponder options....NOW wheres that Albi Mr Wingnut?

Greetings all mine has arrrived I starting an in the box review on each. There has been some bizarre comments about these kits on the internet and just from the first look in the box I can tell you they are unfounded. This seems to be a good mold with only minor discrepancies that are easily overcome.

http://www.karaya.ceti.pl/eng/eng2.html

One minor issue is;

The rocker boxes are centrally located (like a 170hp Merc.) and should be behind the rocker springs to be accurate for a 180hp Mercedes.

Both the Halberstadt built and the Roland built Halb.Cl.IV should have dihedral in the lower wings.

The striped tail unit is not accurate according to top sources.

Mine just arrived and this box art for #8131 is the replacement for the original M. Miller art. Its almost the same kit as the original with some minor differences. More later.

Hi Stephen: I have the ROG release of this kit, the directions call for the undersides to be painted a light green, to include the under surfaces of the wings. I noticed in this kit that the underside lozenge is included. I know that some of the other markings would have had the underside lozenge, did the Buchner bird have light green undersurfaces Were the undersurfaces of the wings also the light green, or were they the lozenge pattern?

Thanks for any information.

Best
Mark

Always lozenge (Farbenflugstoff) on the wings of Fokker D.VII 1918 production aircraft. ROG is feeding you misinformation. See the link below and the listed references at the end of the article.

the original Aeroscale feature on 8131.

Well I got my Karaya Halberstadt. Its not too bad! and will go for one of the Eduard Albatros D.III kits, but I wish some one would bring out another Hanover CL.IIIa, even if Eduard reissued it.

Looks like we 1/72 Early Aviation modellers miss out again! 1/48 Ho Hum!! Seems to me that the Albatros and Fokker DVII are the WWI Me109 and Spitfire - every manufacturer has to do them to death. Every possible variant of the DVII has been done. Why not a special kit for DVII made by Fokker/OAW/etc workers whose middle name was Jurgen or Fritz? There's aircarft out ther that modllers of 1/72 would snap up if companies ever brought them out, eg BE12, FE2, Vickers FB5, Halberstadt etc etc. Why are we missing out? Whining over...end communication

I should point out that I'm not anti 1/48 & 1/32.........rather I downscaled through lack of display space. That Lotto win, enbaling me to buy a mansion to dispaly my models is a long way off
