Hasegawa still makes the most convincing oob but there's a lot of fit issues so be prepared there's no easy way around them and there a little heavy on the wallet

I second that! I'm in the campaign too!

I was just talking with a local shop owner today and he mentioned a new F-14 kit coming out, but I forgot what scale and manufacturer. Was wondering if anybody else new about this?

Hi Jeremy, I believe that will be the new Hobby Boss 1/48 F-14A, seen the ad's but don't know what the kit is like.

As for markings here's my list to choose from in 1/144:
F-14 Tomcat VF-103 Last cruise 2005 Fightertown decals
F-14 Tomcat VF-33 'Starfighters' FCM decals 6 aircraft
F-14 Tomcat VF-84 201 Aug 1991 Fightertown decals
F-14A Tomcat VF-111 'Sundowners' FCM decal 6 aircraft
F-14B Tomcat VF-84 and VF-103 Fightertown decals 2 aircraft
F-14D Tomcat VF-31 'Last Cruise' Fightertown decals 3 aircraft
F-14D Tomcat VF-31 'Tomcatters' Starfighter decals 2 aircraft
Plus some other old Microscale decals and a set of VF-101 dry transfers by MYK design, and the kit decals that come with the Revell F-14's of which I have 10 A's and 9 D's.
But then again with some arm twisting I may dig out a 1/72 or 1/48th Tomcat

Thanks Justin, I'll keep my eye open for it but just a quick check of my European on-line shops shows it as a future release. Need a couple more 1/48 F-14A's

So I was sitting at work today thinking (how can I get everyone who signs up to finish and have a 100% completion?)so my thought was if everyone who signs up finishes I was thinking of sending out something to everyone that they can physically have in there hands as a reward possibly a patch of an f-14?Don't know just ideas rolling around

You find a way to make that work and I'll follow suit with my own campaigns.

On a side note regarding finishing, I'm still learning everything regarding modeling and with your guys' help and insight I hope to be able to get my projects together faster and with better quality workmanship. This is an awesome hobby, I just tend to get stuck sometimes because I don't really know what to do

Here is what I have on hand...

Zotz Decals.

I haven't picked out which markings I plan to use, either the "Final TOMCAT Cruise or the "60 Years; Victory 103", both aboard the USS John F. Kennedy.

Happy Modeling,
Joe

Awesome Joe! I like the Victory 103, but they're both sweet.
Just out of curiosity I was wondering if you have ever build the Tamiya Tomcat before, and if so what was it like?

I'd be interested to hear as well as I have two of the 1/32 kits in the stash and only got as far as the wing folding mechanism on one of them. Looking forward to this campaign as I'm a huge fan of the Tomcat

Well from what I read it was Tamiya's first 1/32 modern jet, now I'm talking about the kit I have. I did a dry fit with masking tape and all I can say is WOW! thats a big bird. Level of detail is pretty good, engraved soft wide panel lines. There is like 8 parts total for the whole cockpit and 12 pieces per seat.

Wing gear is held with screws and nuts, metal rods for the wheel struts and you can postion the intake ramps supersonic, transonic and subsonic using the many pieces.

I plan to to do mine wheel up inflight...

Happy Modeling,
Joe

...................A $100.00 gift card from Sprue Brothers would be nice. Or if that's not possible, perhaps a free ride with the Thunderbirds?

Joe, as a rule of thumb, there are three things that will always look cool on an aircraft. Nekkid chicks, Grim Reapers, and skulls. The VF 103 markings are gonna look sweeeet.
