Justin: Great, thanks!
Joe: I forgot, ever since I saw that Mohawk you displayed in flight I was curious as to how you set your builds up to display them in flight while remaining sturdy?

Jeremy, it's really simply, and I don't do anything fancy. For jets I run a rod deep in the the burner can followed by inserting into base. For the Mohawk I drilled a hole into bottom of fuselage, ran a rod deep into it. That's it really. I will say this...they do bounce, like those bobble head toys.
I like to do the in-flight displays as the look great in action and the save a ton of space. I give them an banking to the left look, then you can display them next to each other. The wings file under each other saving space. I've done this with F-15, 14's, and A-7's and so on.
Happy Modeling,
Joe

Justin: Very cool man
Joe: Thanks for the explanation. They actually look rock solid in the pics, I wouldn't have guessed otherwise

Justin That campaign ribbon is superb!
Joe I like your inspiration for "inflight" displays!
One question by this total newcomer - my entry is a 1/72 Revell F-14 which will be mostly OOB though I managed to get a Superscale decal sheet for VF-84 or VF-102. I'm leaning towards '84 as it's such a damn cool scheme....I know we like variety here but any objections?
I might also need some help posting WIP photos!
Thanks in advance,
Dermot

Thanks Justin - I think the extra award for the wall is truly worthy of Grumman's superb, supersonic, swing-wing big 'Cat that we're going to be building here.
Speaking of which, have got these bits to help with my build..

I just hope I can come up to the high standards 'round these parts!
All the best,
Dermot

Justin, that award will surely get me to finish a campaign of my favourite aircraft, if only I can make up my mind on which scale and scheme to do.
Thinking really hard now of doing a 1/48 'Adversary Bad cat' Topgun 30 in splinter camo but my skills with the airbrush I don't think are quite good enough yet. So unless I can find some way in the mean time to get my skills up it will more than likely be 1/144.
Still some time to go so who knows.

Not sure what to do yet... the planning so far:
- Finish an already started (barely) 1/48 F-14B
- Build an 1/48 F-14D with shameful decals (I have all the material). Even worse, a 2nd is in the mail
- Depending on the budget/time, a 1/48 F-14A in Iranian markings
Since I will be using three different cockpit sets (Black Box, Eduard PE and Aires), this could serve nicely as a comparison.
