Somehow I missed your prop pitch jig... Sorry about the redundant question...

Do you still try to eyeball the prop blades and try to bend them to "improve" on things after the prop jig has done its job?

I learned recently many if not most modellers never bend the wings to improve symmetry/alignment/dihedral after glueing them for good: I find this very surprising.

Gaston- yes, I did have to bend a blade or two as the holes drilled in the blades were done by hand. The jig kept most blades just where I wanted them- just a few needed some eyeballing. I love to use brass wire to pin things exactly for this type of adjustment.

As always,your build logs do an excellent job explaining HOW things are done. It really helps me when I get to a tough spot in a build, to remember the way you solved a particular problem and try it myself (not that MY result looks as good, but hey...I'm learning! )
I've got the Ju 388 night fighter "sister" kit in my stash to build....someday.....

Thank you, Harald! I bought the beading set at a local nobby shop- Military Hobbies in Orange, CA. There are no marks on it- so it's a bit of a mystery. It may well be this model, available from UMM at twenty bucks U.S.

It's been a while- my life has been busy, with some ups and downs. I'm still at it- and I'll get that canopy done, by gum!

Wow Chuck. Jesse C turned me on to your builds, I've spent 3 days reading the threads. That's a lotta great work. Now I don't know if I should just sell of my kits and tools and find a new hobby or try to duplicate just one of you tricks in the 1/72 world.

This post marks a real milestone. Not only is that canopy on at last, but the lead illustration of Hannah was painted at cruising altitude on a cross-country flight! Read on, brave modeler!

I have to get that black milliput!: It is a brilliant item for doing difficult canopy joints, and not have odd putty colours show on the inside through the glass...

I am surprised you do not try to completely finish the canopy masking fully before you attach it.

Good idea the foil that conceals the two part canopy's join...

I am curious about one thing: Do you ever paint a model during the day under direct sunlight?: I have found there are infinitely fewer airborne dust particles in the night time... I actually never do any painting during daylight for that reason alone...

Looks great Chuck! I really hate vac canopies because they are so hard to get attached, but you've done a great tutorial on getting one attached properly (especially one this complex)!

Gaston, I never model at night- too tired during the week and my only free time is on the weekends. I keep my bench reasonably clean- and deal with dust as best I can.

A bit of rescribing is in the works, to open up panel lines filled with that Miliput- a new fairing strip along the cockpit sides and then it's time for some masking fun. A noted member of Aeroscale has been helping me with a scheme- we'll unveil it soon- cheers!

Here's a brief report on recent progress- camo comes next!

Canopy turned out really great! When I can't find or use Eduard canopy masks (or it's a really simple canopy), I too use the outline method, only I fill the middle with liquid mask (I think it's quicker).
