Dennis,
Really nice finish, beautiful model indeed! You certainly deserve recognition for hanging in there with the obstacles you overcame.

Cheers,

Hi Dennis:

This really turned out nicely for you. Nice attention to detail, very clean. The more I see of these completed, the more I am attracted to it. It is really a unique looking aircraft.

Best

Mark

Thanks Lance and Mark

I'm glad you like it. I bought it from WNW as an afterthought (can't beat the free shipping), as I had never heard of this make before. It certainly makes an interesting addition to the shelf.

Beautiful build. I think you really did a fantastic build on this. I am so glad you stuck with it after the decal problems. It really deserves a place of honor on your shelf. Thanks for sharing your build with us.

Well done Dennis. I wish I had done the purple and green one now instead of plain green.
Did you have trouble with your cowlings not fitting as well??

Again, congratulations and a big "Well done!!"

Thanks Carl, Mikael and Warren

It is hard to match the builds that you three have turned in, but I strove to do my best.

Warren, I really didn't have too much problems with the cowling that a little sanding couldn't fix. I did notice that the spinner was going to be a little off center, so I had to try to fix that before cementing the propeller hub.

Nicely Done Dennis! It is gratifying to see your hard work cross the finish line in such fine style.

Now on to the next project (the Roden Airco DH2).

Oooh – looking forward to this one I think You'll find this a very entertaining build, the kit is pretty good  – as long as you take it easy and make sure everything is set up right.

–It does however have a wee bit of more rigging to it than the J1 though

All the best

Mikael

Thank you Stephen Positive feedback from the Grand Master (particularly when he is on vacation) is always highly appreciated

Mikael, I have started to clean some of the larger parts. I guess I'm back to removing huge ejector plugs and filling pits and defects not seen in the WingNut kits. I will definitely be using your build as a reference-already printed it out. For aftermarket items I acquired the Eduard photoetch, the Pheon wicker seat, the Vector Gnome and lots of Bob Buckles turnbuckles.

I hope to do Hawker's 5964. I already made the numbers as they are not part of the decal set. Now I have to figure out how much of that plane was covered in PC10

That was my original plan at first too I had a very good look at the pics I had at my disposal, but I did'nt get any conclusive answer. I Think Stephen told me that they were all covered in PC10 on the uppersurfaces, wings, and narcelle.

The one I eventually did was not quite covered though – as you can see the panels were "battleship grey". The pics I've seen of this plane does show a pretty obvious difference in tone between the panles and the canvas. Hawkers does not if I remember it right...

Best Regards

Mikael

All of the 24 Sqn DH 2 aircraft received a coat of PC10 before the first battle of the Somme (summer 1916).

Thanks again, Gentlemen

I think at this point I will paint the upper wings, upper tailplane, and rudder fin PC10, completely cover the nacelle (panels and fabric) with PC10, leave the nacelle bottom dirty white with PC10 spikes, and paint the undersurface of the wings and tailplane clear doped linen.
