OK..I started the Tamiya Aggressor kit, planning to model it after the 174FW previously stationed in Syracuse NY. I've watched the Viper's fly out of Hancock on several occasions. After starting the build...the instructions don't show the correct pylons and building of the weapons? Guess its due to the kit being a training unit?

So...what to do....I decided to model it after the 64thAgressor Squadron . I added the Aires cockpit and wheel bays. Pics coming soon!

As promised..I finally got around to taking a few in progress pics! The kit is building quickly, a testament to quality engineering . I still need to spray the Aires cockpit... but finished off the intakes, and added the resin wheel bays.
Forgive the seams by the intakes..I added plastic sheet to fill a minor gap, and haven't sanded it yet!

any feedback welcome and encouraged.

By the way..the paint scheme is the blue/ gray camo !!!

Nice work Rob, that is one of my favorite markings out there for an F-16!

Can't wait to see it finished.

Nice progress, Jeff. Very nice details in those wheel bays.

I am making the Monogram 1/48 F-16 for this campaign, so a little soft on the details, but I will make up for it with a striking scheme.

Hi All,

Justin and Mark,
Thanks for the kind comment on this bird.

Jesper,
That's a real striking scheme and I'd like to see the finished bird.

Having done a little more on my F16, I decided to build it with an open canopy and even though the hard points are fitted only the external tanks have been added, still a few touch up's around the nav lights, two tail becons, finish the seat and add a few more decals, before the dull coat stage.

Hi,

Now that the Afterburner decals campaign is nearly over, I enlisted in this one.
I had started on an F-16 for that one, but I never thought I would finish it before the 1st of September.

It's a 1/48 Tamiya Block 30 of the NM ANG.

Cheers, Stefan.

Well, now that my Hangar Queen campaign is finished, I can get stuck into my Fighting Falcon build. I was going to build a Norweigan F-16AM using the Kinetic 1/48 kit, but with only a month left I don't think I'll get it done.

So I'm switching to a Hasegawa 1/72 F-2 (since I asked if F-2s were eligable way back when this campaign was first proposed)

I'm doing it in special markings as worn at the 2009 Fighter Meet, can't decide on whether the yellow or white Grim Reaper looks best. Whaddya think?

I just wanted to share some progress on my campaign entry. I started painting the 3 tone scheme used on the block 42 of the 64th aggressors squadron from Nellis AFB. I I need to mask the belly tonite...color goes on tomarrow...hope ya like the pics!

I'm using MM enamels throughout the session. The gray was layed down first, then the "Flanker Blue" was applied. I custom mixed the blue till it looked correct to my eye against the box art

Jeff,

The blue scheme is looking good so far, {I have the same kit in the stash and I'm partial to the Green/Brown scheme, of the same unit}.

I added a resin seat to my bird and remade a metal pitot tube {brass tube cut to the same length as the kit piece, with a wire insert, which is twice the length of the kit part, as it gave some leverage support when CA glued in place}, for the nose cone, I still need to touch up the seat a bit, as this bird will be an open canopy display.

Applied the first Dullcoat this morning, now for just a little light weathering and the final Dullcoats.

Looks good, Rob. Almost finished and it is a really striking scheme.

Thanks for all the comments on the Italian "1000 hours anniversary" scheme. We will be using some decals from the Italeri 1/48 F-16 kit, but my build is actually the Monogram 1/48 F-16.
Now I just hope that my F-16 will sit straight. I always have a problem with one wing sitting lower than the other when I am building F-16s.

More to follow soon.

Sarge paint bottles under wings and leave it over night to dry All though it dosnt look like you should have that problem with the wings being already attached

Thanks for the tip, Justin. I have tried that before. I have measured with rulers, build improvised rigs etc. The human eye will catch a drop of one wing compared to the other wing - even if it is only 1mm or 1/25 inch.

This time I think I got it right. The Monogram kit does not leave much too chance if all parts are to fit together, so I believe it should be spot on this time.

More to follow

Some more progress on the F-16. The basic construction is finished. Next is the detail painting on cockpit and landing gear. Then the very complex colour scheme of overall black

Nice work Justin.

As for me, not much to see on my cockpit as its all buttoned up, and I realised that I was going to build this without showing an IP photo, so here's a quick one before I prime it today!

looks like everyones making great progress as we get closer to the deadline!

I finally added the wash..the first time its looks right to me....added some decals, and looking towards the checkered flag!

I realized my Tamiya kit doesn't have the static whips on the tail..what are u guys using ? Stretched sprue?

Just an update mostly doing assembly and made the plugs for the after burner and intake.had to order paint because no matter how many grey's you have you never have the right color Also ordered a wolf pack lantirn pod as my kit didn't come with one.So hopefully I will be able to make the dead line. Keep building folks let's put some more on the deck
