Historically Group Builds help the individual modeler & the community as a whole.
A. It usually provides information that one modeler knows but another may not.
B. Campaign ribbons are a mark of participation.
C. The modeler has a chance to push or stretch their talents and improve skills. In this case if you plane to enter an inprogress build it will be required to add at least one inscale figure modeled in attire of the time and venue.
D. New builds do not have the figure requirement.
E. All finished builds will be mentioned to the relevant kit manufacturer in an email. Posted images in the image gallery and build logs in Early Aviation forum will be used to show them the work. It is upto the manufacturers to respond.

1. For the Aeroscale "Knights of the Sky II" GB 2012 and we will open it to:
a. All aviation builds upto 1934.
b. All vendors.
c. All scales.
d. New have the option be finished for this GB with scale figure(s) incorporated into the build.
e. In progress builds must be finished for this GB with scale figure(s)incorporated into the build.
f. Unfinished hangar queens must be finished for this GB with scale figure(s)incorporated into the build.
g. Injection moulded.
h. Vacuform plastic.
i. Resin, metal paper or wood. The components can be any combination thereof.
j. Kit conversions.
k. OOB.
l. Super detailed.
m. Prototypes or main production versions.
n. Colour scheme from a real historical subject and relevant to your build.
o. The build cannot have been used in another GB.

2. It must be a real example of an Early Aviation subject up to 1934.

3. Each participant will submit a build thread (in Early Aviation title) a blog with images. Historical images of the original aircraft are a must to include. If the content meets conditions it will be considered for submission to Aeroscale for publishing as a front page Feature. A gallery will be set up for finished builds to be posted.

4. It will run from February 1st to August 31st 2012.

5. A campaign ribbon will be offered on completion.

6. Manufacturers will be approached and asked to honour the builder who uses their products in this GB build. There are no guarantees in this arena.

7. A gift of a new hobby item will be provided for the best aviation subject, best figure, creative presentation. All Aeroscale Staffers are excluded from the awards.

Sign up here.

A rules query: I have a Boeing 247 (first flown in 1933) which I have long intended to build as Calgary Standard Oil's arctic workhorse. This aircraft was built in 1933 and served until 1967. Would it be acceptable marked as it appeared in the 1960s?

I have a couple of Pegasus 1/72 WW1 aircraft that would be perfect for this build. I have the Spad VIIC.1 in Francesco Baracca's markings and a Bristol F2.B. Could be a real challenge for me as they have a lot of white-metal parts and need struts scratchbuilding! I do have a few other campaign builds on the go but if I can fit one of them in, I'll try for it.

I will join with Eduard's 1/48 Albatros D.III weekend edition. Looking forward to try to create the wood grain on the sides. Still scared about the rigging, so we will see how that turns out.....

Stephen, I had completely forgotten I had signed up for this so apologies for a complete lack of any builds from me.
Given the few months we have left I think I will be building the ye olde Matchbox Siskin. Quick and simple kit that even comes with a pilot.

Afraid I might not get my Siskin finished by the end of the month as I'm away on holiday the last week of August.
I have a little bit of painting to do, then its on to decaling and final assembly. If I work like a demon this week I might get it done, but just thought I would let you know in case.

Hey All, I'm out. No way it's going to happen since my Daughter decided that her trip to an amusement park necessitated pulling the memory card from my camera, putting it in hers, and erasing all my start and progress shots for several campaigns. Daddy's NOT happy!
Once again, I'll reiterate my position on kids: If I knew then what I know now I'd be running a hobby/dive shop in the Caribbean.
To the rest of you I say good luck and good builds,
Charlie

Just made the deadline! My Siskins pics are in the gallery.
My thanks for hosting a great campaign. It got me doing something a little more unusual which I had a lot of fun building and it was great to see everyone elses builds. Its really got me more interested in Biplanes than I had been before. Who knows, I may even take the plunge and try rigging the next. Can't wait for Knights of the Sky III!
