Sorry mate
I do remember building the Airfix Phantom when I got back into modelling 15 years ago......such a poor kit, it never got finished

No worries Neil,
As a kid I always wanted to make this model but the pocket money could never stretch to Airfix series 3.
Rather glad I never saved up enough to buy it

Just a quick heads up for everyone, We just sold our house, and are just waiting for the legal documents before we can move into our new house, which could be anything from 4-6 weeks. I won't be doing any modelling for the forseeable, as all my kit is packed up ready to go, but I will still be around online, keeping an eye on everyones progress. Cheers!

Good luck with the move Lee.
Yer tiz finished.
Not my greatest piece of modelling.
But it does look great from about 6 feet away !
See what you think.
Has anyone seen the gallery link as I cant find the gallery under current campaigns?
Cheers
Martin

That looks really good Martin! I love the early USN colour scheme, and the Sparrows on the inboard pylons is a nice touch - quite rare but common in the early days.
Don't forget to put your pics in the campaign gallery though

Was painting some other white bits and the white was shooting well for once so I took the chance to start on the underside of the F-4D
ESCI F-4D Phantom II 1/48 by mawz_models, on Flickr
still cleaning up the nose/fuselage/intake seam there. Almost done, just need to get the front sparrow recesses cleaned up.

Looking good Sal. You've made good progress, model on! Since we are building the same kit I am going to do the Navy version. This kit sports the experimental Heat-Ferris color scheme. The unit was dissolved in the 80's, but it's claim to fame is that color scheme. I've started and this is my progress to date.

Let me correct myself, VF-301 was dissolved in 1994. VF-301's most important claim to fame was their safety record.

So!
I don't know how many of you remember but I’m going to build the Academy F-4B. I took a short break while I was waiting for a replacement cockpit from Lucky models which arrived Monday. Since then I’ve been working on that. First I sprayed some Gunze H307 mixed with White and details were painted by brush using Vallejo Paints. The seats are Aires with the PE that came with the Eduard bang seat which I ordered earlier. The next step is a coat of matt clear and fitting the cockpit in (which i'm not looking forward to).
Here's some pictures of my progress.
The resin and PE:

What's going to be replaced (OOB cockpit + scratch):
And all the AM painted:
And good job everyone!

Wow, spectacular work Jakob. The seats look amazing with the the straps and RBF tags, and the dials on the IP, are they hand painted?

Thank you
The dials were included and are not handpainted, the frames around them however are handpainted.

All looking good so far everyone, I just wish I was able to do some work on the FGR.2. Nevermind, in the meantime, here are a few images from JG71 (Richtofen), marking 40 years service with the Luftwaffe:

Jakob, that is some cockpit what scale is that
Well folks I have been having fun with my Phantom and here is what it was looking like last night
I have no idea how that piece of tape got on the inside of the canopy
Some touch up and a lot of guess work with the markings as the instructions are useless

What scheme is it meant to be? If you can't find any images on the net, I'm sure some of the Phantom Phreaks in here will have some in their archives

Neil it was suppose to be a USMC scheme from 1987 I thought the blue ws too blue and not gray enough but then I added the markings and the color is practically the same
So I took some photos in some natural light and I think I'm ready to call this 1 finished
I'll try and get some better pics for the gallery

Hi guys. Really nice choices I see. Well I personally couldn't still choose a Spook for myself. Anyone doing Korean? Or Turkish? I will probably do one of the above.
