Joel,
I agree on the time frame it does seem a long time, but as to my choice of a/c it is the only one on top of my desk so that is the one I will have to go with. I just need to look into my paint stash and either weed out the dried up bottles (clean them out and use for mixing) or add what I will need. I had not thought to check the glue either my bench is in a sorry state, but this campaign will put a fire under my seat to clean up, replinsh, and straighten things up around here. I will need to find some youth group to give the built projects to since there is no room to keep any.
Bob
Bob,
That's a tough deal that you have to give away your finished models. When we lived in a small one bedroom apartment, I kept my finished models in boxes on shelves in my closet.
I do keep my workbench and shelves spotlessly clean, and organized. It's part of the agreement with my wife. I've got an entire bedroom to myself for my hobbies, so a little extra time cleaning keeps everyone happy.

Joel, thanks for the concern but I like the building and there is only so much room any place that is home. Some kid will get a kick out of the model and maybe he or she will be inticed into the hobby.

Time to stir up some interest again.
Decided to treat myself for the campaign and ordered some extras for the 1/48 F-14D Tomcat that I'll be doing
I realised after the bits arrived that I only have an the Hasegawa F-14A kit in the stash. All these 'D' part will fit but I now need need to find an aftermarket chin pod for an F-14D. Worse case I may have to scratch build one.
This was posted on the F-14 tomcat lovers facebook page and thought it was appropriate for the campaign.

Allen,
I enjoyed the video even though I did have a hard time figuring out all the single engine props. I think they're a F8F, F6F, & a F4F. The Panther and Tomcat were easy. The Tigercat was a surprise.
I'm thinking of joining you with a 1/48 scale F14A HobbyBoss kit. My build will be pretty much OOB with AM new seats and new exhaust cans.
July still seams years away.

I know how you feel but hopefully that will be enough time to finish my three current projects on the bench.

Allen,
At least I got the types right. I'm into my 2nd week of applying the millions of stencils to my Academy 1/48 scale F4B. Still have the loads to do. At the rate I'm going, I'm hoping to be done by July.
Mark,
A TBM is always an excellent choice. What scale, and what manufacture?

Well, our starting time is getting closer. Close enough so that I have to actually decide on what I'm going to build. I've narrowed down my choices to two Kinetic 1/48 scale kits: The S2-F Tracker, & the A6-E Intruder. If time permits, I'll try to squeeze in the Accurate Miniature's 1/48 scale F3F-1 as well, but I'm not counting on it.

I've got 2 TBF/M, both 1/72, an ancient Airfix and a old Minicraft / Academy.

Just saw Rowan's news post that Kitty Hawk is actually close to releasing not one, but two 1/48 scale Cougars: F9F-8 and TF-9J. So much for my narrowing down my list.

I enlisted in this. Not my normal subject medium but because it is Grumman and my dad works for Northrop Grumman and they are moving out of Bethpage and off of Long Island this October... I just have to do it.
I just have a question: Are kits of Northrop aircraft before the merger of Grumman and Northrop included as well or just aircraft from Grumman and then Northrop Grumman?

Hmm debating between Eduard's F6F-3, AMT's F7F-3, or Hobby Boss F8F-1; all in 1/48. I am leaning heavily towards the Tigercat, I've wanted to build it for quite a while.

I started out thinking about building my F14. But now I'm leaning towards the F6F or maybe F3F.

Allen,
You read my mind. About 3 weeks to go. I'm still trying to finish up my 1/48 scale F-4B. Worst case scenario is that I start a week or so later. I just don't like to put a project aside to start another one, then have to go back to it. It's just tough for me to get my Mojo working again for that build.
And I'm still changing my mind, now almost daily as what to build. I already know that the old Accurate Miniature F34F-1 will be one of two kits. Just keep on changing what the other kit will be.

Would we also be able to do aircraft that were joint projects? Such as the EA-18G Growler. It was a joint project between Boeing and Northrop Grumman.

OK as we're getting close to the start date it's time for me to decide, so since I'm also in the FAA campaign which I haven't started yet I'm going to build two F6F's at the same time from the Eduard dual FAA boxing. Which will be for which campaign I'll work out when I start so that's a Hellcat Mk.I and Hellcat Mk.II dual build.

Michael,
A joint project between more then one manufacturer certainly would be allowed if the base aircraft they started with was a Grumman design. In the specific case of the EA-18G, it is a specialized version of the two-seat F/A-18F Super Hornet. The Growler's electronic warfare capability is primarily provided by Northrop Grumman, not the overall design of the aircraft. So in this case I would have to say that it isn't allowed under the present rules.
