....and I'm done! The decals took most of yesterday afternoon to do. There was a bit of an issue with the very thin black lines that go on the surface of the wings and upper fuselage. They are so thin that if you apply decal softener and then start teasing the lines into position, they stretch even thinner and start twisting. After the first one shredded completely, I took the executive decision to leave them off altogether. I'm not concerned about this, as the lines on the real thing are barely visible anyway, so leaving them off such a small scale model hardly matters. Considering that this is 1/144 scale, it is still the largest model on my shelf by some distance.
Incidentally, I was near RAF Brize Norton a few weeks ago, looking at the real thing. It truly is an impressive aircraft - at least it is until someone parks an Antonov 124 in front of it!
Best of luck everybody - cheers!

Man, that's fabulous!
I see them pass through my area occasionally (near Westover AFB), they are impressive.

Lee,
Really nice job on the "Moose" ! My personnel opinion is that Revell did a tremendous job on the C-17 kit. Now if we'd just get a little color added to the schemes it would be nice ! Take care .......Bruce

Thanks for the comments guys!
@Bruce - here is the most colourful Globemaster I've seen up to now, these markings were the alternate scheme with the Revell kit that I built.

Lee,
I've seen the bird from Qatar, and yes that is a magnificent paint job. I 'm just really surprised the British,Canadian,or Australians haven't had special paint jobs applied for whatever reason ! And normally, the Canadians are Great at that - just look at the F-18's they've given us with tremendous schemes. But there is still plenty of time, and I've acquired several C-17's for that case...so we'll see ! Keep building, everyone !

That is a great looking F-16! It is a great looking finish especially for such a challenging paint job. I see what you mean about the slight gloss, this may be coming from the flash or light system you are using to photograph the model.
This may be the first Trumpeter 1/144 F-16 kit that I have seen completed. Have you built any of the Revell kits yet? If so, how do they compare?
Have fun modeling!
Mike
Thanks Mike. Many years ago I built the Revell kit, I remember thinking the canopy was way too big, which is a problem with 1/44 fighters I think - very small variations in shape and size are magnified compared to larger scales.
I look at the Trumpeter kit and some areas just don't look quite "right". But it is very finely engineered, if somewhat pricey.
Lee - lovely C-17, such a beast of an aircraft

Jessie,
Now THAT is exactly what I'm talking about ! I love it. Sounds like a tremendous idea to me. The F-18 Double "D's" are definitely up there !
And we all have to admit... The "Moose" really lends itself to quite a bit of Art work ! Keep 'em Coming Jessie !

Yes, very interesting article. I can't believe they've honoured Justin Bieber like that, but they forgot about Gilles Villeneuve!

Jessie,
Actually I think the RCAF missed a golden opportunity with the humongous "Moose" tail. Put one of the McKenzie brothers on each side....then you can name it "Hoser One" !

Great looking C-17 Lee! I like the little visual "pop" that the boarding stairs give the finished model.
Have fun modeling!

It's been a bit of work to fix the ejector marks on all the tail feathers but I like how they came out. I am making progress and may get to painting tonight.
Cheers Rob.
Update!
Looks like I have a little more work...
I just discovered that the nose piece that holds the front turret is made of two right sides should be an interesting fix. LOL!

Hi all, As well as the Apache Heli I've decided to chuck another wee beastie together for this campaign. The 1/144 Revell Harrier GR7.
So far I've played silly beggars with the Martin Baker Mk 10 ejection seat.
It ain't very big...
I've also added the HUD from a spare bit of 1/600 PE for a Warship and glued the fuselage together:
More to follow soon I hope.

Finished!!!! I managed to cross the finish line for this great GB and I now have my Tomcat completed. Here's the Revell 1/144 F-14A as it now looks on my shelf:
I really appreciated how small these a subject like this is in 1/144 when I tried to assemble all the little bits at the end. I kept knocking off the missiles and gear doors! One step forward and two steps backwards....
Now to figure out where to post the completed photos (I should remember from my last GB)...
Have fun modeling!
Mike
Ah, just worked out the process to post completed builds in our gallery. Rather oddly I needed to log back into the forum in a different window but it all worked out in the end.....

That F-14 looks some kinda great. Well done, Mike.
I really do like Revells 1/144 jet fighters, and find them to be a real bargain to purchase. They build so well.
