Jessie,
I have to agree with Rob, and make it 5 for awarding the ribbons to you that finished 24 hours late. I'll be posting my pics of my F-18D (ATARS) later this week, but mine was several weeks late. I'm just posting for several reasons. 1) to prove to all the old man really does still model in this scale, and 2) to hopefully drum up a little more interest in my beloved 1/144th scale. So in my opinion...the heck with the Campaign Nazies - award the ribbons !

So what other 1/144th projects does everyone have going on ?

Take care, and keep building....................Bruce

I'm going to try and get through to Sven before I do anything. Our leader needs to lead, even if he needs a gentle reminder.

Hey Bruce!

Looking forward to seeing your F-18D, I have several other 144th kits including the F-16 I made the cockpit for that was posted earlier in the thread.

Cheers Rob.

Looking forward to seeing your F-18D, Bruce.

As to more 1/144 scale, once I finish my C200s I'm all out.

Sven has replied in the middle of packing to move. He apologises for not being more involved, but sometimes Life happens. On the subject of ribbons, he says "It's a hobby after all, it matters that they participated and actually built something, I say give them the ribbons." so it shall be done.

Jessie, Sven, and the whole Smurf Scale Gang,
First, Thank you for restoring my faith that this is indeed a hobby ! The folks who finished within 24 hours should have their ribbons !

OK then... I previously promised pics of the F-18D ATARS bird. This is a example from VMFA(AW)- 224 "The Bengals". This really was a fun minor conversion to carry out. I'm well aware it's not perfect, but I'm calling it completed.

As with all my projects...any and all comments and criticisms are welcomed...you guys are the Judges !

Outstanding Hornet, Bruce!! I will also add my praise for the great base you have it on. That really presents the model well.

Have fun modeling

Gentlemen,
Thank for the very kind words about the "Peeping Hornet". It obviously took longer than anticipated to complete. Plus it did not come out quite as nice as I had envisioned, but they never do.
Personally, I think we had an interesting campaign, and look forward to the next "Smurf Scale" build. We definitely have plenty of products to choose from. I understand the Minicraft KC-135R is due out shortly, as well as Revell's A-400 "Grizzly" or "Atlas". Which name are they going with ?

Ok, so I know the campaign is over, but here are a few more WIP shots of my Macchi C200AS. Managed to finish up decaling the aircraft & got the props mounted to the spinners. Now it's just some detail painting & adding the bomb racks & canopies.

Since I started this build here, I figured that I'd post a picture of the finished product here as well:

(Kind of looks like it's flying, I think.)

(Somebody's about to have a bad day.)

Hey! It's only 3 months late!

I missed the campaign, but here are some small birds I did for a recent build of the USS Enterprise in 1/1200 scale: photo EnterpriseTBMNeptunparts_zps70579d22.jpg photo EnterpriseTBMpaint_zpsb8d91b59.jpg

Painting these guys was fun, although replicating Enterprise’s Night Air Group 90’s white outline arrow tail marking was a challenge.

Wow x2! Those are really small, but seemingly well detailed. Great painting on those Avengers. Did you have to cut the wings to position them like that?

Thanks! You’re right, those Neptun aircraft are beautiful castings. I did have to cut and reposition the wings to depict them folded, since the TBMs were going into a hangar.

Unfortunately, they kind of disappeared once I put them in their nest under the flight deck!

Thanks Jim! I did a couple of F6F(N) Night Hellcats for the ship, too. They also required some modification, plus battle damage.
 photo EnterprisedestroyedF6Fmoviestill_zps0fa91cb8.jpg

As with the TBM Avengers, these were 1/1250 scale metal castings from Neptun. The Night Hellcats’ wings had to be cut off and reattached, but besides that and the battle damage the only adjustment I made was to add a AN/APS6A radar pod to the starboard wing of the undamaged fighter.

At least the Hellcats are visible on deck!
