I was about to start painting my Heinkel, when it decided to take a dive from my desk... Left wing broke of, and something rattles loose inside the fuselage. I think I'm taking a break with this one.

Hi all. First thing that came to mind when I think about big bad bombers..... and that's a Flying Fortress! Picked this Academy 1/72 scale and finally got a start with the cockpit and bomb bay. As this will be very close finishing before the campaign end I wont be using any aftermarket items except for a decal sheet... I have already discovered the Academy decals suck and they went straight into the bin.

Bomb bay and cockpit painted with the start of some dot filters.

James, nice choice! Its is either the B-17 or B-52 for big bad bombers

Nice progress so far. The new Academy decals are made by Cartograf. If that is the case they are excellent. the older ones are most suitable for the bin or some really strong decal solvent followed by a solid coat of clear varnish.

Sal,
Wow I really like the faded-weather look of the splinter camo on your AC. Is that pre-shading and lightening of mixture?
I think that is going to be one beautiful display.

Thanks John,
I used thinned out coats of pain of the colors to achieve the fading

Hi folks,
just wanted to put some more pictures into the forum about my progress, but can't get to the gallery!
Get a hint that's something changed with the server or else.
Anybody experienced the same problem?
Cheers
Pete

Well, I found out that the gallery was down because of the hard drive issue.
And now it is back, so I will upload some more photos of my Fortress soon.
Let's have fun!

Thanks Jose, ditto the paint job on your F-111.

The JU-88 now has decals and some Dull Coat. I have had to make a small compromise with the wing to fuselage join. I’m not going to glue the wings to the fuselage as I want to be able to take them off for storage (this thing is big!), so there is a slight gap.
Next step is the landing gear.

Hi.
My HIPPO 1:48 Gotha is a nice limited run kit and as such does not fall together,i do not want to rush and spoil the model, it will now become a Hanger Queen entry.
Thank you for the campaign but I will be withdrawing my entry.
Richard.

@shorty53 - That Junkers bird looks absolutely great yet! I will definitely follow your build

Now here are some pictures of my own humble doings. The Fortress is making slowly but steady progress.

I'm working at the upper and the ball turret now. When the ball turret is done, I can mate the fuselage halves. First check without glue showed no fitting problems. Thinking about painting the wings separately before mating them to the fuselage.

Keep going mates!

Beautiful job on the JU-88, John. It looks absolutely perfect so far.

Nice progress on the B-17. I once left the fuselage halves apart doing painting instead of the wings. Actually worked quite nice.

I'm a slow starter as I just sometimes not exactly know what I want with a model or better said I need to get a feeling,..not Sure what it is. Anyway I know now what it's going to be with my entree, this classic B-47E, in this campaign and with the end date getting closer I need to hurry up.

This old kit has raised panel lines but although you can complain about the fitting it very straight forward build however it age shows clearly but then i got that feeling,.."re-scribe" and add some stuff,..let's say it all takes more time then you think and then you are running out of time so now I need to hurry,..especialy If you want to kick start this old bird

More pics to follow but here is the progress,..in the beginning not much yet

Pavla engine set, fits nicly

@Peter & John - Great work!

OK, time for a quick update on the Canberra, before I enter the final furlong. Given the limited time remaining, and other projects, I have kept this project OOB mostly, apart from replacing the bang seat with a suitable resin item from the spares box. Here we are, painting completed, ready for sealing with Future, ready for decals:

I should get this finished later today, all being well.

Cheers Everbody!
