Welcome to the Big Bad Bomber Campaign!

The campaign will run from June 1, 2014 through November 30, 2014.

If you haven't signed up yet, or want to see the rules, go here.

Please post your initial and in-progress photos as well as campaign discussion in this thread. Please post your finished build photos in the campaign gallery.

Looking forward to some great bomber builds! But just a small nudge; still no ribbon. Someone might want to wrap that detail up. On with the show!

Hey everybody, hope all is well. In the Enlistment thread I had intentions of building a SAAF Liberator but I have changed my mind. Since Caracal has released a beautiful B-58 Hustler sheet, I will be doing the original Monogram Hustler kit and I think I will scribe it.

Best wishes,

Ian

Oh man Ian I remember building that kit as a kid and tapering off the tail and spray painting it red

Does anyone have any objection to this design?

At ribbon size it's still clear enough to see

The campaign leader certainly seems to have gone south, and the show must go on; so go for it.

Hmmm! I wonder if this campaign has need of a CP-140 Aurora? Or is that considered an unbomber as much as it's considered rcaf over navy???

Really can't decide which one to build. The Spanish civil war version is much more interesting, but I've heard some bad things about the kit itself... Soooo, maybe I'll go with the Revell/Hasegawa offering? Hmm

Petri-----Is the Pedro a Roden kit? I didn't know they made that variant. I always liked that version. However, the Revell kit is very nice.

Best wishes,

Ian

Hi all!

Ian, nice choice, and another modern bomber to the campaign!
Jessica, I agree with the others, very nice ribbon. I hope I can get this one.
Petri, if you let me... I think you have to go with the Heinkel Sorry, joke aside, I always found the shape of the H-6 interesting.

Here is my choice. My first choice was straight out of the box, but some research made me realize that I have to make some changes... some modifying.

Happy campaign to all!

Oh darn, I just finished moving... Now I have to get unpacking. I was thinking about a Martin Baltimore from Frog or maybe the old Marauder from Airfix.

Nice looking ribbon Jessica.

I opened up the B-25 and washed all of the parts, that is as far as I managed to get today!

I am really enjoying my build log for my P-51, so when I finish that I think I will start one for the PBJ-1D. I doubt I'll get much work done on the Mitchell before I clear the P-51 off the bench. The B-25 kit takes up a lot of space with all of the AMS detail parts, I want to have a clean bench to work from.

I'm going to use the following to convert her to a PBJ-1D:

Accurate Miniatures 1/48 B-25C/D kit
Eduard B-25B Mitchell Interior
Verlinden Productions B-25B detail set
Lone Star Models PBJ-1 nose radar
Eduard Brassin FFAR rockets
Quickboost .50cal barrels
Squadron Crystal Clear canopies

Not much room on the bench for a P-51 with all of that taking up space!

When I have finished the Victor K2 and the Vampire currently on the bench then I can think about the HP O/400 (Airfix 1/72 scale). Might be a few weeks yet, especially as I am off to Canada shortly for a couple of weeks, see you all after that

B-24D for me. I'm probably going with a Sub-Hunter scheme.

I've got to say I'm very interested to watch the Badger and the skywarrior progress.

I will be along with my B18 just so soon as I can finish my Seafire.

Hmm, I may have to rethink my plan. Opened up the Baltimore, It's missing the canopy, I managed to get a Falcon set, so that was covered, but now I realize that there are no decals, they might be harder to replace. Oh well there's a B-26 and a couple of B-25s in the stash.

Yep, Pedro is Roden's kit. As far as I know, Roden is the only one who makes the early Heinkel variants, at least in the "one true scale" Sadly the molding of the kit was a bit too challenging for now, so I decided to go with the Revell kit. Made a start with it already, will post pics when I get my scores settled with my camera

I think you have to go with the Heinkel

This is where I'm at: I'm not putting too much effort to the interior, but still a few touch ups to do before closing the fuselage halves.

Right hand side of the JU88A-1 cockpit done. Bit rough up close but at about 20meters away looks ok!

Working on the cockpit. Simple Trumpeter's, not much detail.
