Finally I started my campaign build a few days ago but there's not much more done yet as the cockpit ....

.... but I already noticed that there is a lot of happy filling and sanding to do with this kit instaed of happy modelling ....

I have glued channels to the inside to act as stiffners and as a backing for the filler that will fill the window openings:-

I have also removed the tail skid.
Next up I will glue the three pieces together.

As I said before, lots of filling and sanding fun ....

.... the clear tape helps to prevent killing the details when sanding ....

.... after sanding there suddenly was a little hole between fuselage and wing which I filled with some glue. Hope it helps.
Btw. Does anyone know if the wheel wells and the inner wheel covers of the Aussie Spits had the same colour as the underside of the wing? Just like most of the RAF Spits in Europe?

This Is a very interesting Group Build. Though I am watching all of the builds closely, am especially intrigued with the Boomerang and the Kangarooo.

Keep up the good work everyone

Jeff, really nice looking bird there!

I just returned from my New Years Eve holidays in Helsinki and want to show you how far I came with my Spit in December before I left for Suomi.

In the meantime I did some more paintwork, so newer photos will come soon ....

I have started on my F-111C and was not pleased to find that the wing tips were offset when molded so I have cut them off to be glued on without the offending ridge.

Cheers Rob.

Rob, that's a big project to start with only six weeks left in the campaign! I hope there are no more tooling issues with the kit

Jonathan,
It is not really much work, once they are cut off I can just glue them back on without the ridge.

Cheers Rob.
