And it is my update for the Trumpeter Whirlwind build. It is almost done. Since the campaign is extended I will spend a little more time on weathering it.
It is a very strange kit – looks like it could be “worked” a little bit more, for example main wheel bays have enough details for most of us, while the back one has completely non, zero, null details…
And now some pictures of the build:
Cockpit – not much you can see of it while inside of the fuselage,
Pre-shading done,
Ocean gray applied,
And dark green – I did try to do from hand, but give up quickly
And a picture in the full sun

Here is where I stand today. Major construction is complete and I'm almost done cleaning up the seams
Ive about have the ordnance together and ready for paint. The landing gear is also ready for paint as is the prop assembly. I did manage to goof up tamiyas odd canopy frame assembly so a vac replacement is on the way. Hopefully tomorrow will bring some decent painting weather.

well i thought today was the deadline too. i rushed to finish and photograph my model, still some little details to do but it is done for the most part. i cast my own cockpit using the academy bubble top p47 as a master. lifecolor paints (which i will probably never use again- they were horrible) chipping, a wash with oils and flat coat. decals by kit world and superscale and brass tube for the guns.

Finished!
With a coat of Testors flat spray lacquer to kill the shine of the Future overcoat and the addition of some foliage in the form of The Army Painter Battlefields 4mm “Poison Ivy” (BF4128), “Wilderness Tuft” (BF4133), and 6mm “Swamp Tuft” (BF4127) along with some baby's breath twigs, my crashed Typhoon is complete.
I'd like to think the pilot walked away from this one...

I wont be finishing this one on time and maybe not for a while. Ive got my base paint done and chugging away on the dangly bits but once again decals are tripping me up. At this point I'm super sorry I wasted money on these rediculous KA models dry transfers, I cant figure them out. The instructions are very poor and there is no online support at that isnt in korean and there is nothing written about them that I can find. The kit markings couldnt be more lacking in originality or correctness leaving me with no direction for this nice little build, so onto back burner she goes until I figure these out or find some other korean war markings.

I have to drop out of this one fellows. The kit has been giving me fits. The decals from Hobbybnoss are hit and miss. The edges are crumbling and they don't seem to fit well. It could be age. I'll coat them with the decal solution and continue. This is the last Hobbyboss plane I build though. Thankfully no more in the stash. I have a museum build to get started on so no more campaigns for awhile. You folks have been turning in some great work.
