A bit more progress on the Seahawk.
Glossed ready for decals.
And decals on.
Cheers.

Nice job Si. I'm still sanding wing to fuselage seams.

The review I read said the fit was good. Sanding seams was one of the reasons I shelved model planes for years.
I just added another project to my list as well. I'm a volunteer at the NJ National Guard Museum. We have several neglected tanks that need some TLC. So some of my Saturdays will be back to working on the real thing. I'll tell you Simon it felt good climbing back on a tank on a tank. I'm wearing the green hat.

Hi mates,
at last I started my kit two days ago, here are the first pictures:
It will be an aircraft of the Hellenic Air Force, OOB with a resin bangseat and metal pitot tube.

Building goes straightforward, not so many parts, fitting looks promising yet. Have to check my spares box for an Exocet missile or hang some Durandals under the wings
Enjoy your weekend!

Fury coming on good Tom,
A bit more progress on the Seahawk. The undercarriage going on.
And the doors in place
Stores next.
Cheers,
Si
Si how noticeable is the counter shading of the panel lines in person. I can't detect much difference in the pictures. I wanted to try it on my Fury. Is it worth the effort?
I'm working on fitting the gear doors. My research showed that the most of the gear doors were closed while the jet is on the ground, lots of sanding and dry fitting.

@Simon.H - that sea fury is looking amazing!
@Tom - If you are interested there is a short-cut you can take with pre-shading, it is something I do a lot because I'm a bit rubbish with an airbrush, and it works pretty well, especially under light colours and bare metal finishes, but can be pretty difficult to notice under a darker shade, and that is to use a permanent marker to draw along the panel lines instead of an airbrush. I used that on my F-84 earlier in this campaign if you want some example pics.

Simon that would be great. I have heard of that before but really have not seen it done. The Fury is in the gull gray over white so that should work well. I guess fine tip would be best.I'm not to bad with an air brush but I hate cleaning it, so I only use it for major painting.

I didnt have a kit in the stash that I was interested in building for this campaign... till I picked this 1/72 Tamiya F-51d up. I have other projects to do but I'm feeling like some more mustang is in order, so let it be done!
I have this CMK korean war mustang interior set for korean war mustangs but I fail to see whats so korean war specific. The radio and seat look like better detailed versions of what the kit parts depict so I can only conclude that its in the instrument panel. Im a bit underwhelmed but WTH, Ill use it.
I like the shark mouth looks of the 28th FBW, but the world doesnt need yet another "Was that too fast" so unable to find other korean war mustang decals yet Im currently planning to build "Buckeye Blitz VI/ Red Eraser" I'll probably get some nicer wheels and possibly a vac canopy, I'll have to see what I can do with the tamiya canopy setup. Definitely looking foward to having a bit more leeway in dirtying this bird up!!

Photo of the unstarted kit I will build...
Does it matter that it does not have any bombs under the wings?
Cheers

Well! the campaign page does not state bombs must be shown only that the a/c was used in that role.

It's coming along quite nicely Si. F51 great choice. A Bombcat another good choice, goes nicely with a Mig 21.
I'm sorting through armament options. I was searching for pictures of Furys carrying bombs to get an idea of what kind of under wing rack they used. I have some from a Sabre and was wondering if the Navy would use USAF pylons.
Is it Advanced Modelers Syndrome that I'm even worried about it. I already filled the under wing holes for the B since mine is a straight F4J. I think I have a problem.
That I've even gone that far.
Any way ready to prime.

Hello fellow campaigners,
I have a bit of progress to report on the Revell Mig 21 F. It’s a very nice kit with lovely panel lines and subtle rivets.
This is the instrument panel... There looks to be a nasty seem where the two fuselage halves join at the nose, but this is sanded so smooth with a lady's ultra fine cosmetic emery board.... I think it's something to do with the plastic, in some light it looks silver, in others it takes on a more metallic grey tone.
Seat and straps...
Where I’m at now (the instructions underneath are actually for the Airfix Mig 21, which I'm building at the same time)...
Cheers

Hello all, little late to start but better late than never! I have recently gotten back into modelling and this is my first campaign. Anyway onto to the model. I have chosen the Republic P47N (Revell) for my build. I am going for a full load of 10 HVAR 10X27mm rockets and 2 500lb Bombs. I started this yesterday and here are some build photos below (sorry for the poorish quality).
Many thanks and I hope you enjoy!!!
