Wow Matt, it looks fantastic so far. It's almost tough to tell it apart from the real deal!

After careful consideration of feedback that was provided based on my last updates, it has been decided that the Rufe will largely be repainted.
Stay tuned! I may finish off the A6M5 before doing additional paintwork on the Rufe.

I hope these photos aren't too big (don't break the tables) but IMGUR doesn't seem to have a thumbnail feature anymore.

Very nice. Planning the same for the next year. Parts are all in transit, coming in soon from all over the world. Did see some great review on LSP from "Rick". Your approach is slightly different, will give me some options to choose from. Very cool build!

Matt,
A most impressive overall camo paint scheme. The masked markings and insignia look fantastic. Weathering certainly shows a well maintained operational aircraft.

Thanks Jan. I did see Rick's build, but I deliberately took a different route in some of the construction steps. In most instances I'm glad that I did, and in others I can see the wisdom of his ways.
The conversion was more work than I thought It was going to be, but all in all I'm glad I did it and happy to have a unique plane in 32nd scale.
Now that I've completed it, Tamiya will release it as a regular injection molded variant. You're all welcome.

What ever it takes, there are always pioneers! I really got inspired by Ricks built. Did see yours almost two weeks later. I was looking for Ki-61 detail sets and I came up with this. What's up with the other bird? Finished the other Zero yet?

Yep, they're both finished. The A6M5 was actually completed first.
Photos to come!

Matt,
In that case would you be so kind as to do a detailed build of the Trumpeter 1/32 P-51B, so that Tamiya will release one at the level of their Mossie Mk IV.
Much appreciated.

Matt,
Your Rufe looks great! Love the 'used' look you've given it.

I really wish there was a multiquote option on Aeroscale.
Thanks Joel - but building Trumpeter kits makes me fly into a rage. If I was to build one, it would (will) be the Hellcat - we really need an F6F superkit.

As promised - The A6M5 was finished first and photographed earlier. I'm ecstatic about how this plane turned out - it was built using entirely new techniques from the Mig and AK books. I learned one hell of a lot building these two planes - thank you so much to those of you who followed along.

Matt, These are absolutely winners, both. Smooth paint jobs. Very cool.
Started my Rufe week ago, very inspirational to do something different and having this around to reflect my skills.

Thanks guys!
Let us know how it goes Robert. The hardest part of the whole conversion is the bottom of the wing. The plug didn't fit the way I expected it to.

I will for sure.
Had one of the old ones I guess, so a lot of trouble coming out of that box. But fixed main issues with the cart (total shrink and damaged), which I rebuilt on the supporting parts for carriage of the plane. The wing issue nearly finished. Needs some putty and later on re-scribing of some lines.
Pictures will follow soon, will start a build log on this one.

If you have any big problems, email MDC - they were very good at replacing parts for me, even though I bought the conversion years ago.

I could look at the varied tones and blending all day, that's a beautiful paint and weathering job.

Wow, that's very nice thank you. It turned out well considering I was using techniques that were entirely new to me.

Matt,
Late to the party as usual, I am, but I want to tell you how much I appreciate these Zeros. Your Ameiro - I may try your mix. Also the preshading of the control surfaces.
Excellent work on all!
