Here is a piece called "Home from the Front."

The mechanic figure offering up a cup-o-java is a CMK figure. The pilot posing as Ltn Strobel is unfortunately Out of production from Van's Scale Models. The Albatros D.III was built before the Eduard kit was available from a heavily modified Glencoe Alb. D.III fuselage and resin poured wings of the Eduard Alb.D.V kit.. It took three attempts to get it right.

Greetings all this is one of my older dioramas titled "Grooming a Thoroughbred."

The mechanic figure is a modified CMK item. The model is a modified DML Fok. D.VII with a resin copy of the Mercedes D.IIIaü 180hp. Covered in the less than accurate Aeromaster lozenge. ( Eagle Strike is my choice.)

Albatros D.III (OAW) 5145/17 of Jasta 46, 27 June 1918. Flown by Vzfw. Steinbrecker. This ‘provisional scheme is based on existing photographs of Jasta 46 machines in their general personal marking applications.

The figure is an Atlee / Rosemont item.
The kit used was the Eduard #8038 and Eagle Strike 5 colour lozenge was used on the flying surfaces. The ‘clean rudder’ represents a replacement item. The fuselage is skinned in .003 Marqueting Wood as mentioned previously. Panels have been purposely altered to show tonal variations as was normal on original aircraft.

Well... here is a Jasta 46 "two fer."
The references provided back up everything you see about this machine.

This is the early Eduard kit with a modified Jaguar figure. NOTE! the tail unit colours are in reversed positions compared to the first Alb. D.III OAW image. Denoting different flights(?)

Hello Jean-Luc! The V8 was to test intandem control surfaces. Anthony Fokker said he flew two test hops himself in this machine. Of course the design was not pursued any further.

"Nice landing herr Leutnant..." represents a Johannistahl built Albatros D.Va 5360/17 flown by Ltn. Victor Häfner of FA300 & 304. Sometime in June - July 1918 after the ground crew had completed repairs to this machine, Ltn. Häfner took it up for a test flight one morning in his pajamas. At about 3000 ft the pilot heard a loud ‘crack’ the resultant emergency landing was due to a collapsed upper left wing tip. He managed to land at Afuleh airfield. This was one of several instances where the Top wing tip of a Tropical Albatros D.Va failed. An interesting note is that this machine doesn’t appear to have the outboard rigging wire seen typically on Western front Albatros D.Va types. True story

The standing figure is a Jaguar item. The pilot figure is a modified Eduard item from the Alb. D.V(a) Profipack #8110.

This was my diorama based on Eddie Rickenbacker's 23 victory on Oct. 1918. Originally it came from a painting that shows Old #1 flying over a downed Fokker D.VII from JG II / J.15 with a simple white band about the fuselage. I tried to show the piece in relation to the actual incident between Rickenbacker and Vzfw (acting Sergeant) Klaudat. Though not dead still wounded badly Not much blood has been portrayed.

Figure is the Jaguar torso & arm with CSM head.
