Greetings all;

"...Then for the fun of it ask yourself how does that relate to a Sopwith Triplane?..."

The "Black Maria" carriage was little more than an iron box on wheels.

The Sopwith Triplane from the factory was fitted with a "bullet proof all metal seat.

Here after a harrowing escape our hero Col. Richard "Biggles" Camelhill dismounts the shattered remnants of the captured Fokker D.VII that he was moments before stunting for the Ladies Bunt Wrapping auxilary of Shropshire and lower Unkford. It seems the daring young Colonel flew the German Fokker a bit too close to some power lines, shearing off his wings but never the less landing unscathed in time for tea.

Copper State Models 1/48 Allied pilot figure.

I really like this idea for a display Stephen. Nice job.

I thought that was him...! He looks taller on TV!

This kit represents the Spad VII that was first flown by Captaine Oscar Monteiro Torres of French unit Spa. 65. Then on 19 Nov. 1917 this machine was brought down and claimed as a trophy by Ltn. Rudolf Windisch of Jasta 32b. Ltn. Windisch soon had this machine overpainted red on the top surfaces, lt. blue on the under surfaces and crosses added to the normal locations. The Spa. 65 unit marking of a winged dragon and the white and french blue stripes on the fuselage spine and wings were carefully preserved. Ltn. Windisch is said to have used this machine on war flights so decorated between Dec.1917-January 1918. Photographic evidence says that it has its wheels replaced with items from an Albatros D.V type. See. Over the Front Vol. 17 #3, 2002, Pp.214, 218-219, 221 & 229.

This is the 1/48 Special Hobby Spad VII. The markings are from the Glencoe Spad sheet and the German crosses sheet by Americal / Gryphon. The figure is a CMK item,

The Saxon Werwolf

The JP figure but painted this time to represent a German pilot. On an Eduard Fokker D.VII (OAW) built. (See page 2 on the captured Albatros D.III.)

Fokker D.VI 1668/18 assigned to Kest 1a. (Home Defense Single seat staffel.) This machine was used for familarization flights for pilots with minimal flight time on rotary engined machines. It was meant to prepare these fellows for the larger horse paowered SSW D.III , IV or Pfalz D.VIII types that were to arrive later.

This is the old Tom's Modelworks resin kit covered in the Eagle Strike 4 & 5 colour lozenge (See Lozenge Camouflage 101 thread) The figure is an unmodified exJager walking pilot with short flight jacket. Usually these were British but were coveted by German pilots and downed aircrews were often relieved of their equipment.

Here is abit of fun from a Norwegian modeler using the 1/32 Roden Albatros D.III. He comments; "...Making a wreck involves a lot of work and planning, the kit wings are covered with aluminium tape to simulate the torn and stretched fabric. I have ordered the photo etch kit from Tom's Modelwoprks so some brass will be added. The Albatros is just fixed to a temporary base, made for easy handling, the diorama will be slightly bigger in size..."

On rh figures he says; "...The figures are still in a very early stage. I,m going to convert all the kids (by Andrea and Sol) to fit into the scene and the pilot is going to be completely scratchbuild.
The ground is going to be frozen with minimum of snow..."

And there I was...

An Eduard Alb. D.III (OAW) from Jasta 46 (the cowling panels on the original machine were apparently painted a brown colour.) The figures are CMK.

Here is the Eduard (new mold) Alb. D.V interior. The pilot figure is in the stock pose. The rudder pedals can be lifted to the pilot's feet but when closed up you can't tell they don't touch.

When the members of Bogohl 4 moved to a new airfield they found a derelict Alb. D.V on the outer borders of the runway. They used 150 cigarettes to barter parts from a nearby Jasta and flew the machine as a unit hack in the summer months of 1918.

Here is the The early issue Eduard kit and Jaguar figure again with slight modifications.

Greetings all; Remember this from the first post?
Here is a bit of fun and cause for contemplation. The Hecker & Goros figures of Ltn. Werner Voss and his mechanic Gefr. Timm. Voss figure has acquired a new head from Microsculpt. What are your favorite figures? I think it is a unique situation that these figures need an aircraft or at least a portion of an aircraft in the picture to put them into context.

Model Cellar has a 1/48 scale figure coming out. Yep its the Voss figure. Similar styance but with his service cap on.

Greetings folks;

Here are some 1/48 figures from Preiser that may be from the next war but can be modified very easily.

Greetings all,

Here are my contributions to the thread. Hopefully not too off topic. . .

These are reworks of the Mike Good/DML 1/12 scale busts. MvR's head has been "simply" reworked; Udet's head has been resculpted in its entirety. Both painted in oils.

While I have a couple of original 1/8 scale busts in the works (Buddecke and Lothar vR), a friend recently presented me with a MIB Dragon Fokker D.VIII/E.V with the Hans Goerth bust. This one has been bumped to the front burner, and I will hopefully begin resculpting the head within the week.

Augie

Augie J; Nicely done. Since I posted the same earlier in the thread I can't fault them here. Over on "Historicus Forma" I have a thread on MvR may I invite you to post them there as well? Same figures with different modelers working on them have such different results. Its amazing.
