Amidst our first snow storm of the season. Hot coffee, peaches & cream on my oatmeal and a day off. Its 6:30am and I am saving some time later this AM for a nap. Life is good! By the way that series of monthly jottings is being considered for a Nobell Piece Award.
Named after Dr. James Tiberius Nobell, the famous "Glencoe Institution for the AMS afflicted modeler" gives out these awards based on the inaine babble that goes into its construction.

It's a little too NRA, don't you think? I'd rather use these for our doors

Ok, the leaves are turning. There is a chill in the air. Cloudy skies and the threat of frost. Breaking out the crock pots for a meaty chicken enchilada stew. Chicken peppers, tomatoes, peppers, rice and a 3 cheese (cream cheese, colby and pepper jack) sauce. Scratch made tortillas are in the warming pan under the cover.
Also a potato soup with Ruston brown taters, carrots from the garden, homemade dumplings. Golden brown homemade rolls light like pastry.
Seasonings are table basics. Salt, pepper and Louisiana hot sauce. Though there are some whole roasted Jalapanos and Habaneros for the adventurers. (And an emergency supply of milk in the pitcher
For dessert we have homemade cinammon rolls (no white icing)and homemade apple and pumpkin pie. Fresh whipped cream in a bowl on the table.
Hot coffee with the seasonal pumpkin pie spice creamers. and iced tea. Mixed or bottled adult drinks are at the bar. Go get your own.

Up here in the mostly-frozen North, it's Thanksgiving.

Yep, a nice hot steaming bowl of Wolf Brand chili might be good about now...
But the Chicken Enchilada stew sounds pretty tasty too.

Ok the back to the remodel. How about this. We can go for a wine cellar and a general beverage storage.

Don't know if that much gunpowder will affect the taste of the wine or not......

Well I learned something today. I remember "Hey Mabel, Black Label!", from a misspent youth. Didn't realize it was actually a Canadian brew, always it was from Milwaukee. Thanks Wiki! I knew the American connection was lost with an ad combining "Dambusters" and futbol. No one in America would get it....

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
_ _
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

Now its time for the Thanksgiving dinner. This year everyone bring your favorite dish!
Posted: Monday, November 25, 2013 - 05:21 AM UTC
One year I managed to cook (smoke) almost the entire dinner; turkey, stuffing, corn and rolls on the BBQ. Just cooked the mashed potatoes on the stove and bought the pies. One of the best turkeys I've ever done. Maybe I'll try that. Roasted corn on the cob in the husk was great too.

Today all of the classics from my side of the table. The turkey is just about ready, sage stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy with lots of butter. Green bean casserole cranberry jelly, sweet potatoes & marshmellows, condiments of black olives, celery (with peanut butter), mini carrots and cherry tomatoes.
A big bowl of Ro-Tel and melted cheese with assorted chips makes a great side. But first I need to go brew a pot of coffee. . .Several creamers to consider.
The apple and pumpkin pies are ready. Two cherry pies just went in the oven. The sparkling drinks are being chilled. I need to mix up some whipped cream and then we should be ready.

Never been there, but looks like a vacation might just be in order. Still, Hawaii was the best week of our lives.

Sure hope they're disarmed. Hate to grab something in a drunken stupor and end up a long ways from where I intended to go...
