You think it's too hot to build models in the summer days? Well, Eduard have released a nice and interesting cocktail of new references for the month August. I'm sure you will find something for you in the list. Check it out!
New kit releases:
For the forthcoming version of the 1/48 scale I-16 Type 24 kit a new nose was designed with additional details and a more rounder shape. For those who already purchased the initial I-16 Type 10 kit, Eduard are ready to replace the old nose by the new one.
The "Royal Class" box of the I-16 is not yet available but you can already pre-order it. The box will include three kits, four possible versions (Type 10, 17, 18 and 24), 12 marking options, photoetched sheets, optional resin wheels, a 1/16th scale Boris Safonof figure, a 1:1 scale Guards Badge replica, and a complete edition of the Il-2 Stormovik PC game. There won't be much empty space in the box for sure!
Another hot news is the imminent release of the 1/48 scale Fw 190 A-8 kit. Taking a closer look at the sprues, one can notice that the wings, as well as some cowlings, are coming in seperate pieces to allow several versions. No "Royal Class" box is announced for that kit yet, but my little finger says there will be one. At least I hope so!
One word on the boxart. As you can see, it's a combat scene. It seems this time Eduard didn't choosed the now usual consensual style. Did you noticed that, on model box covers, more and more, the planes are flying peacefully over an idyllic landscape? Well, not here! The artwork clearly shows the mission of the aircraft: shooting down Flying Fortresses! Therefore, the modeler can expect several colorful "Reichsverteidigung" (Defence of the Reich) markings on the decal sheet.
New photoetched sets:
Speaking of the B-17, four new photo etched sets are now available for the Revell/Monogram kit. They are designed for the G version and cover the nose interior, cockpit interior, mid interior and rear interior area.
Other new 1/48 sets will improve the look of Accurate Miniatures newly released SB2C-1 Helldiver and Hasegawa's A6M2 Zero type 21.
On the 1/72 scale front, you will find a new set for Italeri's SM 79 Sparviero. The bigger scale fans have not been forgotten: Big Ed for the Hasegawa 1/32 Ju 87 G-2 Stuka and several photo etched sets for the 1/35 UH-60A.
New boxings:
For the WW1 era, three "new" references are now available: the first one is a very eye catching "Black Miki" Sopwith Camel in limited edition. The next two, a Henriot HD.1 and a Pfalz D.IIIa, are both "Weekend Edition" boxes. All these kits are in 1/48 scale.
The "Sold Out, canceled" Spitfire Mk.22/24 kit:
If you wanted to buy that kit and wonder why it isn't possible to do so anymore, you can read the manufacturer's explanations on their August newsletter. The reason is quite simple!
