Following the phenomenal success of their Fw 190 series, it was a safe bet that Eduard would have something special up their sleeve for the anticipated Royal Class version. But few could have guessed how unique this kit would turn out to be!
The Royal Class Fw 190 will include two complete kits - a standard Fw 190A-8 and a new version - previously unreleased by Eduard - the Fw 190A-8/R2 Sturmbock with additional side armour and canopy panels.
Along with the kits come a selection of extras - 2 complete sets of the etched detail sets released so far:
48 551 Fw 190A Landing Flaps,
48 555 Fw 190 Tools and Boxes,
48 556 Fw 190A-8,
FE 370 Fw 190A placards.
Plus a full scale replica of a Knight's Cross.
But the most poignant item is a reminder of the terrible cost of war - a small piece of the wreckage of II.(Sturm)/JG 4 Fw 190A-8/R2, shot down on September 11, 1944.
The Royal Class Fw 190 will be strictly limited to just 2,000 kits. An even smaller run of just 100 more expensive "limited edition" kits will also include a piece of a genuine Iron Cross band. The standard version will be generally available from March, but the limited edition must be pre-ordered from the Eduard website this month.
