Looking through Eduard's plans for 2007 is almost daunting... there are just so many projects! The full list can be found in their January newsletter, but I've picked out some of the highlights that caught my eye.
The year should kick off with the welcome return of the I-16 in Spanish Civil War guise, but more exciting is the big new plastic kit release promised by Eduard - the 1/48 scale Messerschmitt Bf 110 family. The first version - a Bf 110D - is due to preview at the Nürnberg show in early February, but the actual launch is scheduled for the second quarter of the year. The kit follows the pattern set by the hugely successful Fw 190 and features a detailed nose gun-bay and a cockpit comprising over 80 parts! Due at the same time is the long-awaited 1/48 scale Avia B-534, which Eduard say will introduce new engineering methods - so watch out for it as a sign of what could be to come in future kits. Looking further ahead, there's the promise of a new 1/72 and 1/48 scale F6F Hellcats towards the end of the year.

WW1 fans have a lot to look forward to! The undoubted star is a 1/48 scale Caproni Ca-3! This may only appear as a Royal Class kit, but it could be one of those models that become legends! On a more down to earth level, there are 1/72 and 1/48 scale SPAD XIIIs, a 1/72 scale Nieuport 17, plus a 1/48 scale Fokker E.III and, at last!, a DR.1! With Eduard's reputation for WW1 aircraft, these should all be rather special...

Large-scale plane builders have a real treat in store - Eduard are working on a 1/32 scale Bf 109E, with detailed armament, cockpit and engine. Planned versions include the E-1, E-3, E-4 and E-7 versions, including all tropical and bomber sub variants.

And just so jet-builders don't feel left out by the announcement of all these props... tucked away in the list of projects is a brand new 1/48 scale MiG 21 series with a MiG-21PF and PFM and their sub-variants, plus a MiG-21MF, bis, SMT and R planned. And, for earlier Cold War warriors, the welcome news that work on the MiG 15 has begun again, but it may not be ready for this year.

Small-scale jet-builders have a 1/144th scale Me262A and B to look forward to. Both will be released in Dual-Combo sets and promise to be highly detailed with photoetched extras.

Finally, talking of photoetched, there's an intriguing mention of new-style sets developed with higher-definition pre-painting and something brand-new - self-adhesive photoetched details... they should be interesting to see.

:-) Of all of the new releases, the one that has me doing monkey flips is the 1/32 109 E. Although the Hase 109E still makes up into a nice kit, a new tool Eduard 109E, (with all of their engineering finesse and other goodies that implies), is glorious news indeed. I had anticipated that Hasegawa would do the 109E, given their recent spate of new tool 1/32nd kits. Eduard, however, will no doubt give us an "over the top" kit with detail galore. News like this reinforces my opinion that this is, indeed, a great time to be a modeler! Regards, Ed Frick Memphis, TN

Hi Ed! I agree with you! If Eduard do a Royal Class boxing with the 1/32 scale Me 109 E I'm dead! ........... :-)8 Jean-Luc

Hey Jean-Luc, Oh, I agree! I will have to violate my "no new kits in 07, build the ones I have" resolution for this one. I can't wait to see some of the sprue shots! Regards, Ed
