Hi everyone!

In the hopes of attracting more from attention of people knowing the mysterious ways of 1:144 scale, I'll ask my questions here instead of starting a thread of my own. Here goes:

1:144 Resin kits by Kamide Koro - How are they?
It was either Ebay or HLJ where I stumbled upon these little resin kits. The subject choices and especially the Finnish decal options in many of the kits caught my attention, There's Fokker XXI (two of those in fact), I-16, MS.406, Brewster Buffalo all sporting Finnish markings.
Has anyone experience of Kamide's kits, how are they? I got the impression that they're sorta garage kits, requiring some work, but how's detailings, quality of decals, that sort of things?

funny you should mention that I just today got 2 short s1-c from the ebay shop.

They are nice and crisp, and now i can make the entire production of this
plane all 2 of them

Both are exactly the same so a good sign the moulding process is consistent.
or at least the quality control is working.

The decals are OK the roundels good and in register. black and white ok too.
There is orange wing flashes too, but they are made up of dots of colour, will
paint the wing flashes instead. Canopy is quite thick, or is it just cos is 1/144.
I'll probably smash mould a replacement.

I'll post some snaps of the kits here tomorrow and let you judge for yourself
I'm glad I've got them as I've been wanting a s1-c for years.
Took 3 weeks to arrive but I picked surface delivery over christmas, so
thats my own fault.
Shipped in a box that got bashed but plenty of packing so the models
were undamaged.

For those who haven't seen nor heard, Miniwings produce a number of kits in 1/144th resin, very well cast. I reviewed their Drakens in the January Internet Modeler (http://www.internetmodeler.com/).

The next release from them will be the CF-105 Arrow.

Thanks Matt, that Draken looks great and I like the idea of an Avro Arrow.

Thank you for the photo coverage from Milton Keyes. All I can say is - Outstanding ! That F-8 builder really put some work into that piece, and was rewarded with a well deserved Gold Award. Some very nice work to inspire all of us. Thanks again................Bruce

WHAAAAT??? BAC Lightning? Where does that come from? Does anybody know what company they are? And do I see an F-4J and a Phantom GR1 there?

You bet you do ! Revells kit # 04019 is the BAC Lightning, this is the Royal Saudi F-53 version. As for the Phantoms, now we're talking conversions. But once again, folks are surprised at the aircraft that have been modeled in this scale.

The bigger shows bring out quite a variety in our scale. And since the world economies are not doing too well at present, I have a feeling we'll see more 1/144th than ever. Space and price savings are still the best attributes.

With more and more decal manufacturers realizing our scale are not just toys, they are getting serious about products.

I do agree Bruce. Specialy the Japanese decal companies gone sligtly mad. I have even discovered a few private garage producers for the RIGHTEUS SCALE(oh boy I better cut down playing WH40k or I will go fanatic in life). Are the mentioned kits new ones or old ones? Can I find them anywhere?

These are older kits, but not antiques. The Lightning is within the last 5 years if I remember correctly. The Phantoms are mostly copies of the old L & S Kit I think, quite a few companies have copied this one. Then the modelers end up converting it into their favorite version. I think Revell has one available as we speak.

But the state of the art is really advancing quickly. The Revell C-17A is unbelieveable ! The interior of the cargo bay with sidewalls is a separate assembly that is then glued into the fuselage halfs. Very nice molding, and of course the super detailers can go totally berserk !!!

Plus don't forget the nautical side. Revell just released the 1/144th Fletcher class Destroyer. I don't have that, but the reviews I've read look tremendous. Altogether it adds up to a busy year for us ! Take it easy, Bruce

Just seen a Revell 1/144 Lightning F6 on ebay but it went for £13.00

I've never seen the Lightning in the shops but I sure would like one.

Hello chaps. Thought I would bump this thread with some pics of my nearly-finished Sweet Zeroes. My first 1/144 kits. And beautiful they are as well. Painted with Gunze, just the props and wheels to go. I can feel some more coming on ... Cheers.

Ben nice work on the little Zero's, these are very nice 'Sweet' kits.

On the go at the moment are a pair of Monochrome Type 99 Val's, should have some photo's later.

Nice work on the Zeros. The Sweet kits are definitely appropriately named ! Plus Platz has started to crank them out again, between their F6F Hellcats and the P-47's, they are keeping us busy
And speaking of the F6F and P-47 kits...Anyone seen these little jewels in person yet ? I've heard of them, and read some quick reviews, but haven't seen any for real. (Of course, its not like I don't have anything to build ! )

İf you are talking about the Buble Top I've been doing one of them a while ago and if I am not mistaken I posted progress photoes. It is generally a very nice kit. Be carefull about the decals!!! That's it:]
