Peter,

Yes, I've seen that photo before ... fascinating little scene, and well executed. My idea though is to create a much larger scene ... the focal point, an SU-27 Flanker being taxied across the grass in preparation for take-off; and in the background, various other aircraft (Hawker Hurricane, A6M Zero, Apache helicopter, P51 Mustang, F14 Tomcat, NA Sabre, P40 Warhawk , etc ...) waiting for their turn to thrill the crowd.

Well that is the plan ... just when I get round to actually doing it is another matter, as I've got so many projects on the go!

Here is my Trumpeter 1/144 scale North American USAF F-86F-30 Sabre. The markings are the 335th Fighter Intercept Squadron, Korea, 1953. The pilot figure is from OzMods. Guess I need a MiG-15 to go with it.

It's not perfect, but I like how it came out.

Hi all, I've been a poor attendant lately but I felt I need to feel I am still building. Ok I admit this is from last May but still, I've built at least two 1/144s in 2018. This one won a 1st prize in the National Competition last year. Unfortunately I didn't take photos of the sistership which is Hans Phillip's bird of the same era. Kit is Sweet's F from Barbarossa box. Happy New Year everyone.

...hmmm, pitot tube looks invisible, but it is there.

Ooops, seems like there is a problem with photo links. Ok, let's try this way.

Ha, I just found this thread; didn't know it was here... Nice job on the 109 Jolly.

I've started work on a P-51 that will be done up as Bob Hoover's 'Ole Yeller. I'll be sure to post in here when I get some progress done.

Gentlemen:
It has obviously been quite a while since I last posted. But I do manage to keep an eye out on the posts, and the 1/144th scale "toys" and decals !

I don't know if anyone has announced it ... but Caracal Decals has announced some Great 1/144th decals for us "Wee Builders". They will be doing the RAF C-130's with the special tail colors ... plus at least one sheet, possibly more , for the C-17's. Perhaps our time in the cycle has returned !

These sheets can be seen on the ARC forum under Caracal Decals ... these sheets are definitely getting me cranked up again !

So what do you all think ?

I recently picked up the Academy P-47D Thunderbolt; I'd like to get a set of those Platz decals.

Hi All,

Just finished this P-51D as Bob Hoover's 'Ole Yeller.' Decals are from Draw Decals and I thought they were excellent! I'm still struggling with masking canopies; getting closer, but still not where I'd like to be.

I really need to stop by more often. Thanks guys, Cool looking Mustang Joe, is that the Platz kiT?. Old warriors in civillian colours always fascinate me.
Wow! Platz reboxed their P-47D bubletop kit... There is a world of difference Between that and Academy Jimb. I've fiished one up as Eaglston's Jug a while ago. Outstanding kit. It is nice to see it is around again.

I've finally managed to finish a trio of 144-scale Avias from Eduard.

I blogged the builds here!

What cool thread, I hadn't seen it before!

Here's a reprise of the little Crown Mustang I built recently for the Mighty Eighth campaign here on Aeroscale :

Glad to see you here, Tim, that's a fine looking Mustang. I hope you will build more airplanes in future!

by the way, and totally off topic,I am about to embark on a vintage Pyro kit for the "Blue Oval" Ford car group build.

Thanks Jonathan!

I built one of the Pyro cars as a kid - made a real mess of it, but as I recall it was a pretty good kit with nice rubber tires. Good luck with yours!

It's true that I'm mostly a ship modeler, but I do build the occasional airplane:

Trumpeter's F-86 Sabre is a nice little kit.

Tim! I think one of the main purposes of this thread is to drag all those 144-scale lurkers out into the daylight ! That Mustang of yours looks far too nice for being a Crown model, and that Sabre is a looker as well!

Thanks Magnus. You are right, the old Crown kits weren't all that great, but the P-51D was one of their better ones.

It has most recently been reissued by Minicraft Models with some nice new Cartograf decals.

Peter,

That kampfgruppe144 site is pretty cool! It is good to see others doing 144 armor, which I do occasionally:

WOW! Tim, that is a great little model. I especially like the grass on the tracks, well done. Please post it over on Kampfgruppe site as others there would love it as well.
