You ain't kiddin' Chuck. That's a mighty short to-do list. The weathering on the radar looks spot on. I still can't get over how amazing the weathering turned out for the whole bird. A++
On a side note. After a very. VERY long, cold and just plain miserable weekend at work (well Fri thru Sun) your blog really helps me wind down and relax. I feel much better now. Thanks.

Simply remarkable. I hate to see it end in a way. I have learned so much watching this build and enjoyed it thoroughly. Great work.

Now that was a fun thread. I'm sure I'll re read it several times. Both for modeling techniques and just to hang out with Lil Chuk and GP Abe. The Helldiver turned out a stunner. Good job Big Chuk. I hope you decide to share your next adventure with us too.

Hi Chuk
What an amazing threat err thread!!! Congratulations!
On an exhibition I would have looked at it thinking: "Hmm, nice!" and walked by. Only these Internet SBS build can make me really appreciate the work that went into the model kit.
Thanks a lot!!!

This build thread thread indeed was a pleasure to watch. Simply stunning work!

I'm sure this has been discussed many times over the thread, but here goes again. This'll be a feature on the site as well, right?
Any ideas for the next one?

Hey Chuck
this was the best build log ever! Can your bird actually fly with so many details?
Looking forward to the next episode

I actually feel a sense of loss now that the build log is complete.
I learned a lot from it, so PLEASE start another when time allows.

What am I going to do now that the build is finished, which is magnificent. I have spent the last 15 months waiting for the next episode to appear. I showed my kids, my coworkers, everyone I could get to look at the computer. I am also waiting anxiously for the next project.

Thanks so much, my friends- I'm glad you've enjoyed the show! I'm going to make a quick base for her with the Eduard plastic decking, and then it's on to the ProModeler Me 410 with the Aires and Eduard goodies. How's that sound?

That sounds absolutely faboulus. I just wonder how Giant Abe and Li'l Chuk will get along in die deutsche language. There a lot more weird rules to that than USN-english, you know.
Anyway, I'm already looking forward to this, cause I already miss (the lot of) you. But beware, there's allways a philosophical armwrestle going on somewhere, über what colour the RLM's really look like

Hi Chuck,
What a fantastic build,I almost expect lil' Chuck to jump in her and fly away.
You have got me thinking, if imitation is the sincerest form of flattery ,I've been considering building the Academy 1/72nd special edition Helldiver the one with Photo etch drive brakes.I'd like to add some additonal detail not up to your level of skill level.
But I have some questions if I may be so bold?
1. When scratch-building a piece how do you work out what thickness stock to use,do measure it or use a WAG (wild a** guess)
2. Do you do other builds as well or was the Helldiver the only kit on the bench?
Cheers
Chris
